Like many here I think it's too early to predict yet. Keep the best players and strengthen the defence and I believe we'll be in the mix. If we lose Austin, Fer and Phillips we'll be also-rans. The defence needs at least another two experienced signings, Perch is a good start but we need more, if that isn't put right it won't matter about the rest we'll be struggling...
The apparent lack of defenders is a real concern. After CR bought in Luongo and Gladwin early doors, I thought two or three defenders would quickly follow. All good sides have a solid defence at it's core and gives you a platform to build the rest of the squad on. We seem to have done the opposite which is surprising as CR is an ex defender himself. I just hope he knows what his doing and we don't start the campaign with too much of an an unbalanced squad. What does give me hope though is Ramsey's attitude. As I've said elsewhere, he won't settle for mediocrity. Everyone and everything will be as excellent as they can be. No half measures and no giving up, ever. Anyone who doesn't pull their weight will be cast aside on their own. There will be no room for wasters in this new set up. They simply won't be tolerated. This along with the novelty of having a football philosophy and game plan - something we've been missing for quite a while - gives me an anticipation for the future. We will have the desire, but will we have the quality? I think patience will be needed. I'm going to predict 10th.
I think play offs depending on the defence im sure CR must have a plan at this stage of the season???
Again too early to say, we need to see the new players on the pitch and see who comes and goes first. I'm always an optimist but i'd like us to stay a season in the championship, lick our wounds and create a good base on and off the pitch. For me we are caught in a cycle and need to break it, we need to put in the correct building blocks for the future, change from the short term fix mentality and this will take more than a season. A lot of people saying the right things, this season we need to see them put in action, next season we will start to reap the rewards.
Good point about Ramsey's attitude, Nines. No top manager has ever been tolerant of anything less than excellence, so Ramsey has jumped the first hurdle. Football philosophy at the club seems to be moving to the right place. As to strategy, tactics, game plan etc I'll give the guy a clean sheet and won't judge him on the general mess of last season. We're going to find out pretty soon if he's got it, starting a week today. Agree about patience. The first serious assessment point for me will be mid-September, when we'll have played 9 or 10 games.
Jaysus, I don't have a feckin' clue! I haven't, EVER, had a feckin' clue how QPR will do in the almost 40 (Jaysus!) years I've supported them! What did I do in a previous life to deserve this, huh? Although, I do kinda enjoy the torture! Can we put a "Don't have a feckin' clue" choice into the poll? Feck!............
As I write, 32.6% of us think we will get to the play offs. I guess most of us were at Wembley last May. Do you REALLY want to go through the agony of that again? Admittedly, it was a fantastic day, but it could so easily have been a disaster. I don't think my ticker could take it!!
I'm surprised at the level of optimism on this poll thus far and fair play! Despite the arrival of our new fishy player I'm still not convinced until more arrivals for the back line arrive!
http://www.not606.com/threads/what-position-do-you-think-we-will-finish.272622/#post-6873419 I voted 18th, turns out I woz a ****ing optimist after all.
That ain't it dude. There was a large one done with dozens of posters voting and commenting. That looks like summat you've done up in the last 10 minutes to try & trick a Geezer
Bang on! I wish I could also be so optimistic but with Charlie looking all but gone, no real replacements in attack or defense, I did select 'mid table' but I'm starting to think more like, just above relegation. We currently have a mish-mash team of part / new / young players with no real cohesion. All the stand outs are being sold off. Sorry for the negative but realistic approach.
Extremely difficult to predict now, but I actually have faith in CR and SLF, think that we will get in the defender(s) we need and have a squad that is pulling in the right direction. CHAMPIONS!
May I recommend QPRPlayer? I'd even PM you my log-in for today cos fortunately I've got something marginally more interesting to do for once.
