Get to ****. Butchery? Killing anything is butchery. If there wasn't butchery, you wouldn't have sausages, or steak, or bacon.

It's fishing. If you've ever been fishing, you'll most likely have clubbed the fish and seen it bleed. That's all that is. But a whale is bigger, so there's more blood. If that was 800 haddock, would you think it was butchery?

I explained it all before in the post above so I'm not repeating myself. This picture doesn't tell the whole story, it's obviousy been taken by an animal rights activist.

Are you sure whales are fish?

They're marine mammals. Are you saying that because they're mammals they have more intrinsic worth than fish?

Where's the outcry over this? Oh wait, there is none because they're smaller, non-mammals and there's less blood. <doh>

No, they aren't fish, but that wasn't what I meant. They aren't being killed for sport, they're being killed for purpose, in much the same way that we breed pigs, cows and sheep for food. But the whales aren't kept in captivity, they're free to roam the ocean so it's not like there's any cruelty such as keeping them locked up in cages.

Good for you. Not everyone is though and the Faroese put the pilot whale meat to good use. The meat is rich in vitamin-D and many Faroese have a deficiency because of the climate and lack of sunlight.

So where do you draw the line? You'll happily kill a living plant but not a living animal?

As long as the plant is free to roam the oceans and not kept in a cage he doesn't mind killing it.

Can we stop calling it sport. It's not sport. Trophy hunting etc etc etc. It's killing animals because you have a big **** off gun and you can. How do you feel when you see the life go out of their eyes? Does it make you feel good? Does it make you feel like a man? Values are the same the world over so I'm not having that used as an excuse. Stop killing animals, you're not better than dog baiters who do it for their kicks.

does this tell the story better - can't remember many crowds around the local abattoir watching cows and sheep get killed - they're a bunch of in-bred no marks that butcher animals for fun

S'okay I read it just fine. The pictures of Walter the cock posing with his many kills is stomach turning. How proud his family must be of him. Twat.

The point I was making is that he must have seen the collar and shot the animal anyway after reading a bit more about it so you can understand the witchhunt a bit better

I think the fallacy with comparing whaling to fishing is that whales are mammals and sentient beings so that's why people don't like whaling, fish don't have the same level of sentience

They have to be there because the meat is evenly distributed to the Faroese people who take it home and eat it. It's not sold in Faroese supermarkets. This is an example of hunting for food and not sport.

Ah, yes indeed. Walt the cock does not see why there is a witchunt though. It's the guides fault and not his. He takes no responsibility for any of it. He only kills large animals that have no visible tags on them. He sees this as merely a blip on his faultless record of 'legal' kills so far.

Fair enough if they dispatch the whales very quickly
