I do not know where Sophie Leech trains but the dogs around there must bark fairly loud.

I went in Hills just after 10am and the betting on the Bangor 2:10 showed: Carnaross 17/2 > 6/1 > 9/2

Reported in the Racing Post, the clerk of the course at Goodwood is going to water parts of the track. Proof if it were needed that the lunatics really are running the asylum. Have the Qatari sponsors got something running on Saturday that needs to get its toe in?

Somebody go and lock York’s William Derby in the broom cupboard. If he waters the track for the Ebor meeting there will be no Golden Horn and no possibility of Gleneagles.

Everybody got their Placepot slips ready? You are going to be very disappointed...

The form pick in the opener is The Corsican, who missed the King George to come here, but his fourth in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes was over two furlongs shorter. Hillstar has been a big disappointment this term so I have to go with Luca Cumani’s CONNECTICUT to State how much he has improved.

Whilst the second Group 3 race on the card is numerically more taxing, there is so little worthwhile form amongst the runners that the short-priced favourite Latharnach should have no trouble collecting with a repeat of his second in the St James’s Palace Stakes.

The principals in the Betfred Mile betting seem to be the ones that are going to contest the finish. Gm Hopkins won the Royal Hunt Cup but takes a drop in trip and has to give weight all around, whilst bottom weight Donncha was a good third on soft ground at Ascot on Saturday. Munaaser comes here with a two pound pull for his second at Sandown, but I am a fan of Farhh’s brother BASEM and although this course is different to Sandown, I do not think that the five pound rise will prevent James Doyle from completing a hat-trick. They skipped a Listed race at Pontefract on Sunday to run here but it will surely be his last handicap.

At 4:55 there is another Group 3 race with a mess of form lines. It does look like the three-year-old fillies may be better than the four older ones here; and amongst them the Royal Ascot winner OSAILA looks better than the Jersey Stakes runner-up Fadhayyil.

Now all you need for a Placepot is something in the King George Stakes at 3:45 and the Nursery at 4:20.

Having spent the morning on here talking about cricket, Aussie rules and shooting lions I suppose I ought to pick a horse.

I love the mile race at Goodwood so am going to stick with Mr O Meara and back two for two. Good luck all.

    14:35 Goodwood - Malabar

(Mick Channon's filly seems pretty classy to me, and hopefully the drop back to a mile will suit her. Should be staying-on at the finish. Around 10/1 seems a reasonable bet).

5.10-Tough opener with a few in with a chance but I'll side with Tempo Mac Ew at 9s.Elliot yet to have a winner but yard is in decent form.Paul 'arse in the air' Carberry on board can hopefully pounch coming round the bend.
    5.45- Mr Michael win w/o Fav 2/1.
David Marnane won this race two years ago and finished 3rd in a decent maidan last time out.
6.15- Already mentioned Usuel Smurfer but will have an Ew saver on top weight Devils Bride.
6.50 Clondaw Warrior win.C&D winner with excellant claimer on board. This race is abit on the sharpe side but the hill will certainly help. Will have a small Ew saver on Paddy the Celeb.
7.25-Not really a betting race but will have a small punt on Van Schaik to beat the Weld beast
8.00-Pat Martin saddles Easy Boy who ran better than 4th lto with a brutal ride from apprentice who kept running into trouble. If he breaks well and is in front a couple of furlongs out he has a great chance.Big gamble on Gangster Martin horse 7s into 5/2 whos form reads 009 so has plot written all over it.I would love to see Pat land this,my mate spoke with someone close to the yard this morning and they are hopefull of a decent run if the Keane lad doesnt find trouble again. Will have a nice Ew punt at 7s

Well done malabar backers but another strange result imp. Surely the gleneagles form should have been strong enough to win a group 3?
