Quick and efficient are two of the last words I would use to describe iTunes (my main contact with Apple).

Again though, if you know your stuff, you can keep your product virus free, just don't visit stupid sites and keep your Anti Virus up to date.
People don't make virus' to attack Macs because it wouldn't be worth their time tbh.
Anything that means a damn is done on a PC.

Macs are good for people who do graphic design, CGI and arty stuff, I guess.

But the code will always be done on a PC (For websites and whatnot)

You can now buy(Non CD) Anti- Virus Software in places like "Argos" for a fraction of what it costs 2 years ago and use on up to three Laptop/Computer.

Yes and no. Songwriters get a decent share of the cut as well, but the performers get a fairly small direct share. That said, they will have been paid an advance (at least with the major labels), so indirectly they have already been paid, and the more money the label makes from the sales of music, in principle the larger the advances they can offer. The business isn't exactly the most reputable though and I don't think many people have sympathy with the major labels losing money.

I can't get my head around music being free though. It seems perverse to me that the music is free and that the money comes from merchandise and touring - essentially the music is now the marketing to encourage t-shirt sales, which just seems wrong, and doesn't seem like a formula designed to encourage the creation of great music. The younger generation seems to see it that way though, and I think that in 10-20 years time it will only be proper enthusiasts etc. that actually pay money for recorded music.

You can't say "Oh its okay, its only the labels that will lose money and not the artist".
Well if that happens what do you think will happen?
The labels will stop fronting bands and letting artists make music.

    Yeah they do.
But even if that weren't the case, making just the labels lose money wouldn't be conducive to the music industry either.

oyu are right its not... thats why the rolling stones are one of the biggest tours and queen are too.. they CREATED not CREATE music and are milking it.

what will we get in the future? coldplay? take that?

in 20 years what will the touring scene be? who'll headline Glastonbury?

Ed sheeran shows what an artist has to do. he loves to gig, plays free gigs for real fans, uses social media to annoy me cos i singed up to get prebookings for the kid..

he writes utter tosh that sells to 12 year olds... that hand on my beating heart muck... then writes what he actually wants to perform on his album behind that stuff.

there's **** all real artist but the problem is..... its becoming snobby. theres a guy in my offic who is a compelte numpty... apple tard, beatles nut case, very very snobby about music and whats the best sound and quality of files and all that and into paulo nutini and elbow and that malarchy... anything unitl its "main stream" so he can turn his nose up at people

you know the type of office jockey who was into the apprentice and lord sugar until you point out he might as well watch geordie shore as its really the same crap.

(and votes conservative and laughs at me for voting labour He'll vote lib dems now they are not mainstream no doubt.)

Of course, and that wasn't my intention if it came out that way. And as much as labels get a bad rep, there are of course various good labels.

On a slightly different note, though, with the new marketing and distribution opportunites opened up by the interent etc., as well as falling costs, it's much easier nowadays to do everything yourself and leave out the labels. As time goes on, labels will have to fight harder and harder for relevance.

Hardly any where to hide these days with GOOGLE, your details are often circulated without your knowledge. People know where you are at given time.

    Ugh ****ing hate hipsters.
Anyone who lets anyone else's opinion on a song, a film, a TV show whatever, alter their own opinion of it, is a total ****ing prick and needs to sort their life out fast.
If I like something, I like it, I couldn't give two ****s who else likes or hates it.
I have friends who stopped watching Game Of Thrones, or liking bands like Kings of Leon, or whatever, because they blew up and everyone started liking it.

    Absolute......****ing.....bellends......of the highest degree.

I had an iphone for so many years and it was such a pain in the ass to put anything on it.
You put one album on there and have to sit there for 20 minutes while your phone synchronises.
On my samsung now, its literally as easy as copy and paste. Any song or film I want on there.

Also once, I was at work, and wanted to change my ring tone, so logged in to my Itunes, downloaded the ringtone and synchronised my phone, because my work PC didn't have the 2000 + songs on its harddrive that my home PC had, it took it upon itself to delete every single song from my iPhone because it was now synched to my 0 song on harddrive work PC. Was ****ing seething, I mean its this kinda **** that tipped me over the edge.

    For sure.
First time I plugged my S5 into my PC and dragged all my music over and 2 films (that I had obtained........dodgily) onto it and BOOM, they went over no fuss, no muss and I could watch them straight away, I was in love with it.

Samsung phones own the iPhone in every way imaginable.
