It's not really. Half of them were half-celebrating as they knew Bolton had lost. The Aguero goal was completely meaningless to us. The 89 minutes before where we played well mostly with ten men means a lot more to me.
Watched a re-run of it on sky and at no point during the commentary did they mention that we had stayed up!
Not really, if it had sent us down then yes, but as we were now playing for nothing it wasn't that important other then being annoying to have to watch all the time on premier league adverts!!
You don't think that's inexcusable for a body of professionals? I've never heard a fan saying he's happy for his team to concentrate for 89 minutes Are you insane?
What difference did it make? They did the job they had to do and when the job was effectively done, a few of the players understandably switched off slightly after playing with ten men against the best team in the league for however long it was. I could give you 50 worse away performances since.
What were we playing for that was more important then what City were playing for then? If you think that players aren't going to switch off a bit when they hear they are safe then you've probably not played much competitive sport before!
I sympathize with your sentiments Swords, although I quite quickly got over it and was not depressed for days afterwards - also Mark Hughes' post-match inspiring words, "never again on my watch". The silver lining was that we stayed up due to the draw in the Stoke v Bolton match, but it would have wonderful if we could have been been a "difference maker", despite the odds, that day, in a David v Goliath struggle. However, it would have been a very different story if Bolton had won their match. I do hate the way the whole Man City fairy tale champions story gets continually rehashed. Well at least our fans were also cheering at the final whistle, unlike those Bolton fans at Stoke. But Walters's goal from the penalty spot, after a foul on Peter Crouch, consigned the Trotters to the drop. . Coyle aggrieved after relegation To rub salt in the wound for Bolton, both the goals they conceded were controversial - the first because Walters knocked the ball out of Adam Bogdan's hands and into the net and the second as Crouch appeared to go down very easily under the challenge from the Bolton keeper in follow-up to his own saved shot. In addition, two injury-time Manchester City goals against 10-man QPR meant a win would have extended Wanderers stay in the top flight. In truth, much of the damage was done in the final 15 minutes of last week's penultimate round of fixtures, which saw Bolton throw away a two-goal home lead to West Brom while Rangers were snatching a last-gasp 1-0 win over Stoke to leave Bolton fighting against the tide. I was happy to see us loose that final game, after we knew we had stayed up. After Man U cheated to beat us, will never forgive Young for the dive I thought it was quite fitting we handed City (who I really didn't have any issue with at the time) the title, a big **** you to United, lovely stuff. And yeah why not to Tiawo, could be fun
Yeh why not........Yuns too weak and will still befound out in the Championship................re Aguero's goal I really dont mind watching it. It reminds me of a great day and a great performance by ten at least..................
