Its deadline day. We have tried and failed to sign all of our central midfield targets. No-one is coming and we are facing the prospect of going into the new season with only Drinkwater, King and Hammond as our fit central midfielders.

Up pops the agent of Joey Barton - a free agent currently. A Joey Barton who wouldn't cost a penny, is a defensive midfielder, a leader and, apparently, made more passes and created more chances than any other QPR player last leason.

Would you panic-sign him or not? Honestly if no one else comes, i would.* Demands the best of the players around him and always gives 100%.

*for wumming purposes, these views are purely my own and not of the club or other supporters.

If he fitted into our wage structure why not?

I'm worried that I think I really want to sign him?

Once a toss pot, always a toss pot - course I would sign him!

We need someone to stir up controversy now Pearsons gone <ok>

Like i said previous, i think he could still do a job on the pitch.

Reckon I'd have had him if Pearson was still here, as he would probably wouldn't have dared step out of line, but I think he'd be a bit less respectful of Ranieri and could get up to his old tricks again. I find his tweets quite amusing though, trying to make himself look intelligent. He probably spends hours trawling for quotes from literary figureheads to make himself seem more profound.

I've said on here for ages that I think he is genuinely reformed and would be chomping at the bit to succeed in the premiership with us. Really not the worst option out there...

All Ranieri would need to do would be to ask Robert Huth to have a 'quiet' word ... Joey would then need to bleach his shorts ...

Just get Dennis Wise on the staff. Ranieri wouldn't need to ask him to have a word, just give Barton a deck of cards. Plausible deniability.

Edit: Thinking, have I got that Wise incident the wrong way round?

But then you would have the bigger issue of having Dennis Wise at the club.

Has it really come to this? You'd take any old player just as long as we get a signing? Unbelievable!

I would absolutely never have anything to do with a player with his reputation. You would have to be pretty damned desperate to even think he would be an asset. Reformed? I seriously doubt it and he isn't worth the risk. If the owners are keen on respect then there isn't a chance that a guy like Joey Barton will ever be coming here, thank goodness.

    So basically, that's a 'no' from me.:emoticon-0149-no:

I bet you would also sign Ched Evens and bring back Smith, Pearson Jr and Hopper since it seems the reputation of our club means less you you then staying up.

None of them did a decent job in the prem last year though. Hes still praised by some QPR supporters for his commitment on the pitch.

He ought to be committed! And preferably never released.

Personally I'd like Dennis wise at the club - as long as I'm swinging it at the evil little fookers head!

Was more praised when he was released - I remember him saying that he hated the QPR and only joined for the money when he was at Marseille.
