http://www.skysports.com/football/n...ansfer-works-from-the-scouting-to-the-signing Seems as if the sloth-like Brady move is more the norm than the exception these days
...and there was me thinking they just looked at a player's value on transfermarket.com and muliply it by 2.8377563 if he was right-footed or by 2.719884386 if he's a leftie? Good article that, enjoyed reading it I was really flumoxed by some people's reactions to the way the Brady deal was progressing, just didn't understand the panic and negativity at all and I had every faith we'd get our man at a good price in the end. I read this morning that WBA are close to spending £8m on James Chester from Hull, if that is true then I think it makes the £7m for Brady (or whatever we end up paying, it most likely will never be the full £7m) look a very smart piece of business indeed
Hang on this article can't be right. For our transfer dealings we just pluck a random very low number and then text the selling club's manager, followed by a question mark. There is no way we spend ages considering exactly what the starting point in a negotiation is, come up with a tailored offer and then have continuous dialogue with the selling club throughout. Oh no. That's not the Norwich way. What an absolutely monumental prick.
Rob, I´m assuming that the above is aimed at our friend from Hull, who, I seem to remember, you had a couple of run-ins with, during the process, otherwise I don´t quite see the relevance of it here Thought the article put everything ´transfer-connected´ well into perspective.
Sorry RBF, it was actually principally aimed at Bruce although obviously extended towards originallambriniman. The article is a good one, though as Dave says it's entirely common sense. It is ludicrous to think, with the size and seriousness of the footballing business, that these things are carried out in anything other than a relatively professional way these days in that middle ground Norwich is in.
I think Rob was being clever, though clearly too clever for me as the sentiment seemed to go whooshing right over my head as well!
FFS do you ever tire of putting hypocritical little digs in at me? It's ****ing ridiculously tedious, particularly as so far as I can tell we agree on far more than you would admit when you're not deliberately twisting my words despite them having been explained ad nauseam. I'm seriously bloody bored of it, particularly after your unfounded accusation the other day for which you of all people should have known much better.
Huh? Which unfounded allegation was that? And apologies, but I couldn't help but have a little chuckle to myself at the accusation of me being "ridiculously tedious" We do agree on a lot of things, the vast majoroty of things in fact and I thought I usually make that clear. However I have to say some of the stuff you were posting about the Brady saga did my head in last week, especially your uncalled for attacks at the (in my opinion entirely reasonable and totally non-antagonistic) Hull fan, and the way you were for some reason trying to big yourself up, patting yourself on the back and proclaiming you called it all absolutely spot on - when you clearly hadn't on so many levels! Just seemed a bit odd to me, that's all. Your opening gambit on this thread was a bit odd and over the top as well if you ask me, I don't recall anyone ever suggesting anything like that is how transfers happen, those are simply your words there that you concocted and not the views or opinions of anything I've seen on here so to me it would appears that it's you who is trying to put words into other people's fingers just so you can win the argument back against them. I'm certainly not calling you a bully, but it seemed a bit like that sort of behaviour last week, didn't understand it and didn't see any need for it myself, sorry. Think you maybe need to chill out fella, and thinking about it that perhaps would probably be decent advice for myself as well
FFS The "pat on the back" was quite clearly a pisstake - so many people were so quick to claim that they had "called" it. Read that post again, even if sarcasm isn't easily communicated on this forum it should pretty obvious that it was a dig at two or three posters claiming to have predicted everything right even though the deal still hadn't (and hasn't!) gone through. It was ridiculous to claim anyone had called it then as it is now and given that the only things I called were that (a) there was more to the deal than just the headline numbers Bruce went puce about(which Supers suggest there was) and (b) that Hull would negotiate and if we offered £5m they would bite our hands off or words to that effect, so I can clearly hardly claim to be Paul the octopus. I've already said countless times that I got the second part wrong, but as that doesn't fit the little picture you like to paint of me you seem to have persistently ignored that point. You're wrong about anyone suggesting that's how transfers happen - it's what the Hull fan said. You can bang on as much as you like about your love-in with this bloke, but he was repeatedly winding people up on that thread not just me. No matter how many explanations or when I tried to keep it cordial, he kept repeatedly saying the same twisting of responses. Whether that amounts to "WUMming" I couldn't really care, but the one thing I'm sure about is finding him irritating was perfectly reasonable. Read your post here back to yourself. How many times do you think you could have resisted having a swipe? I'm well aware I'm tedious to some. I'm well aware that I'll argue too much if I think I'm right. I don't need you to repeat it every time you'd like to feel better about yourself by criticising others. It's easy for you to say "chill out", but you're not the one with someone having a go at him at every opportunity. I'm not going to chill out until I want to because I'm sick of the ridiculous hypocrisy of all your accusations, every one of which fits you like a glove (take a look at your recent posts, you seem to like to points score with everyone, not just me). But I'll accept valid criticisms even where hypocritical. What I'm sick most of all of are the unjustifiable accusations like, as I've now pointed out three times, that I never admit I'm wrong, despite you of all people being the one person on here that should know much, much better. And yet you don't even have the good grace to accept that because you're too proud to be seen to lose out to the big bad evil browbeater Canary Rob. Which is known as ironic.
Sorry for ruining your thread RBF. Feel free to ask a mod to delete my posts if you don't want them here. I'll leave it alone now.
Apologies, to me I didn't read it as anything like "clearly a p1sstake", it simply came across to me as you shouting the loudest that it was you who was right all along. I have gone back and read it again and that's still how it comes across to me, though once again apologies if I was/am mistaken, it definitely does happen! Apologies once more, I don't actually recall you saying anything like countless times that you got any of it wrong, though as with the previous point I am happy to admit that it may well be me here who is mistaken. Did he actually say that? Did he refer to managers sending simple text messages to each other with a random number as a valuation alongside a question mark? For the third time apologies if he did and I simply didn't read it, pretty sure he didn't say anything of the sort though to be honest, but there you go. Hyperbole?
I really don't like the big Aviva yellow box on the new home shirt, Is it just me or does it ruin the symmetry ?.
Hi skald bor, if he can match Johnny Gavin at finding the net, then the wait will be worthwhile. Regards to Muttley !
Symmetry? Should have been consigned to the kit cemetery! Having said that, I quite like the halves. Looking at the shirt last night from a distance, I liked it. The logo close up is utter merde, shame.
There has been some cracking pointless squabbles on here lately this thread and the new shirt one are classics. Failure to buy all 3 kits will automatically revoke your right to support Norwich city .
