Beth. I am with you on this one. This seems very "bizarre" and "reckless" at present. I hope that all the pieces of the jig-saw puzzle quickly fall into place and we declare, after the Charlton match, that this indeed was "very good business". The next days will either be very exciting ....or, there will be melt down on this forum!
Without making a big loss? Please provide a definitive list, of centre backs in the Championship that are better than him? Remember Andy Keogh and Russell Martin were the 2 best centre backs in this league last year. And then give us an idea of what centre backs are worth less than £1.3m and are going to sign for us He didn’t have a great year last year but just how bad is greatly exaggerated. He had an excellent season at Cardiff got in the England side, done very well at Swansea and done very well at Bristol City. Has a questionable season in a **** **** team unsettled team under a **** **** **** manager and everyone writes him off and takes a £6.7m hole with no good news on the horizon as a positive. If Les and Hoos don’t pull something out of the bag this week then they can **** off Would you say the same for the club that Fer signs for? He’s got a worse relegation record in England than Caulker. He’s on 100% But if he goes there and overcomes a single blip in an otherwise promising career and does well we still have to sell him for less than break even after replacing him and get none of the benefit of him overcoming that blip and helping to getn us promoted out of a low quality league
Or if you had more than two brain cells to rub together and a valid point you could defend logically without going off topic
For 8m fine For 1m... please log in to view this image Just think about that... £7m less than his value we have sold him... and that make's sense to you?! He's also off the wage bill if he sells for 8m to a club who's other centere back has just been injured for 7 months Makes more sense to give in on Austin for 12-13m and lose 2m there instead Reverting to the off topic approach because you cant answer the question I see Mike... or Mick Bassett as you're a paddy
There's also the point that he might not have wanted to stay,he might have asked Ramsey if he could leave. If this was the case, would you really want him playing for us this season?
I thought for a moment there that you were perhaps describing Caulker's mind-set when it came to his defending style last season. Most of the time he appeared totally out of touch, with an inability to read a game, mark a man, or communicate with his fellow defenders, and (I realize it's a bit disparaging) a somewhat stupid, Anton Ferdinand type, dazed look about him.
Well yes, Onouha also would rather be elsewhere, Green would rather be elsewhere, Fer, Phillips they all want to be elsewhere. But if we are paying their wages and as a young bloke on the back of a bad season he’s got no choice but to put it in and from his public comments he will put it in and is proven as more than capable at this level. You are hypothising your won scnerario and basing it on nothing. Southampton have lost two key centre backs this summer and are now laughing. They’ve got a centre back we paid 8m for for 1m.Could we not get more out of them?! If he goes to them and does well, by you own same logic they’;’ll get him for 7-8m (even though he would then be worth more). If he stayed with us and he rediscovered form he’s shown on every other season but last alongside Onouha he helps form a partnership that can get us promoted and makes 100’sm Instead we’re stuck with ****ter or more expensive alternative to him And as some suggest if he is going to be back up at Southampton we get a young centre back after a year who wont have played regularly, who wont have improved and who will be worth even less. There is no positive side to this scenario. Incompetence of the highest order from Hoos and Les. I want them gone from our club. You can fill in for Swords and list those centre backs in the championships that are better than him with bonus points for those that will be cheaper than the 1m we get for selling him
But we've been paid 1m for him...so replace slip of tounge, 'selling' for 'letting him go' And his replacements will be ****ter and/or more expensive Plus see my comments in my previous post
We were paid 1.2 mill as a season long LOAN fee and they are covering his wages. At the end of the season when his LOAN ends they have an option to buy.. Please look at everyone's previous comments.
But if he goes there and does well and performs as previous form to us suggests he’ll be worth more than that. Plus new TV deals kick in so its even more of a bargain If he goes and doesn’t do well, so doesn’t play we get a centre back back who has missed a key development season are still stuick with him in Championship or League 1 paying those same wages and we have bought a ****ter and/or mre expensive alternative in the meantime We could instead say okay Southampton if you want him 8m please… and guess what they then also have to pay his wages?!??
Poor Kia. Now that Tubby has gone Caulker is his new pet project. Its like he knows these guys personally such is the obsessiveness of his defence of them (I think he may well do)
Still can'tmanage to answer the question though can you mick?! Which centre backs are better and cheaper? Which one's will we sign? Remembering you've got a budget of 1m and a generous 15k a week (the gap between Caulker's wage and the replacement) If you can't answer those questions and do an predictably unrelated off topic line, then - know what that means
