Wellcome to my club Grifter...it has taken a few of you a very long time to join me. I "know" we cannot fight a championship season with this sort of structure, so I have to trust that CR and Sir Les know what they are doing....I just wish they would let us in on the secret.
I'm really not sure what to make of this. Is it a good or a bad thing? Probably good if we had players in place, but we don't. I wonder if he's deemed a bit of a bad egg and Ramsey wanted him out.
Disappointed to see this happen but when you get relegated you have to rebuild and who knows what the financial situation is. A £1.5 million loan fee is a respectable sum and if he goes to Southampton and performs well then we'll get even more money than what we paid for him. It's a win-win from that side. Attention must now turn to a replacement, and we desperately need to sign a CB perhaps on loan or to buy who can support Onouha and Hill. Not seen Scorch play myself but reports don't make good reading.
QUOTE="BushBaby, post: 8177633, member: 1014161"]Can't believe that the season starts in 11days we have one proper center back Onuoha! WTF! why are we loaning out Caulker. What happened to bring in 7 players by the start of July. You need 4 center backs in a squad![/QUOTE] Perhaps we will see the creation of a new formation focused upon all out attack? Spain have played with no strikers and perhaps we will experiment with "no defenders"! p.s. Once Charlie goes, we will not have too many strikers. So possibly a team of midfielders?
Get ready for management's "We're waiting for our defence to gel" claims that will last until Christmas. "Queen's Park Strangers" will be about right for any defenders we bring in now
From a business perspective it seems a good deal in the context of our FFP situation. From a playing perspective it weakens us a lot, and is unlikely to have been something Ramsey was eager for. The interview Caulker gave few weeks back cast him in a very good light, and he didn't come across as a bad egg. You'd hope this would only have been sanctioned if a few replacement CBs were waiting in the wings...
My sentiments exactly 999s. Caulker did not play well last season, so not terribly unhappy to see him go, I think he is expensive, some one I would consider part of the old problem of not-caring mercenaries. However he did fill the shirt
Of course. Expect a few signings to be confirmed before the weekend then. They must have some lined up and if so it's good that we've managed to keep linked players below the media radar.
Don't know why folk view this as a negative. We'll be getting a poor player off our books & will free up more funds to buy in someone cheaper. This time last year some folk said on here that the money we were spending on these players was far too much. Tony yet again couldn't see it and therefore I believe him to be the biggest mug English football has ever seen.
If, or presumably when, new defensive recruits join us, they're not going to get much of a pre-season are they? There again, the rest of the squad haven't had much of one either, given the shambles of the cancelled fixtures and sub-standard opposition. This is really testing my patience now.
I don't quite understand your position Rodney. No matter what happens, this season is going to be our worst in years. Mid-table would be the best we could hope for presuming our 3 good players leave before the window shuts. So mid-table or lower-mid and staying up? Doesn't make fukk all of a difference to me. The damage has already been done and we're in the Ch'ship for the long haul. Time to get used to it Rodders me old chum
That's an oddly abrupt email exchange. If this guy considers Caulker's cousin any kind of friend, then i'd be surprised that he's made these comments public. Hopefully it's bollocks... But definitely worrying
That's what I thought and it's why I didn't pass comment. If it is true it's probably because Ramsey told Caulker to turn up for training sober.
