I am not sure if a loan is the best solution. I would either keep and try to develop the potential good player in him, or sell him. GBP 8M would be a good price to sell.

A loan with a view to sell is a poor comprimise.

But whatever the solution, it needs to be done quickly as Caulker is in my starting eleven for the Charlton match in 11 days!

To be fair if this story is bullshit and Perch signs this week then our first choice back line is in place already. Just unfortunate YSY has been injured

Well said sir. To those that say "He may have been ****e last season but that does not men he will be this" I say " I can only go on the evidence of last season and that does not leave me confident that he will ever wake up/make good/be the player we thought we were buying. Even if the reserves don't have a quality replacement, we know they will try for 90 minutes and not switch off during games.

I suspect £8 million would allow us to get 3-4 CB's who will do a better job than Caulker did last season...!!

Makes no sense to loan him out. The money we save in wages will be negated by the fee+wages we'd need to pay for a replacement.
    Sold or stay's for me.

No loan. Straight forward sale as we need him off wage bill.

Getting incredibly frustrated this is all happening now. No doubt we will sell Austin, Fer and Hoilett next week with no cover in place.

We want to get the best deal for our players and so we are hanging on .... but that is just the same as loads of other clubs. The downside to that is that we are left hanging on waiting to buy from them.

There will be a flurry before the 8th and then another before/on deadline day - as always.

We just have to hope that those we get in will be okay.

If we are lucky enough to sell those player in advance of the Charlton game I would say, Gladwin has replaced Hoilett, Chery has replaced Fer and Polter would be the lone striker instead of Austin.

Only 11 can start the game against Charlton.

Isnt realistic to expect us to make all our signings before we’ve sold the likes of Austin and Fer. Clubs know that we would be stuck and can then hammer us down on price.

Also we cant go spending money we haven’t got yet and signing an Austin replacement for any sort of real money until we’ve sold him. Also we would be foolish to cash in too early and not get his proper value and therefore limit ourselves is signing replacements

Pateince is needed but unfortunately that is in short supply among football fans in the modern world

Can't see us recouping our outlay on him. He, like Sandro, will be another hefty Redknapp loss maker

Stranger things have happened....look at the Chris Samba saga, who'd have thought we would have got our money back on that useless waste of space?

surely when we bought Caulker we weren't still handing out the silly wages of the Hughes era were we?? Do we really need him of the wage bill??

Course we were. Lovely jubbly. The cheeky chappy had just got us back up with 10 seconds of inspired attacking football (out of 5,580) and Tone had given him the keys to the mansion, a job for life and declared to Harold that he wanted to have his children. Zamora's goal had renewed his faith in Redknapp. What better moment to cash in by spending bucket loads of money on players Harold had always wanted. They came at a cost. No problem. Send the bill to Tone.

Probably learned and didn't give him a silly wage ... but forgot the relegation wage reduction clause. Still at Prem level.

    Where you getting that from?

    Article from May this year suggests otherwise;

“Apart from the legacy players – and most of their contracts have finished – every player has relegation clauses,”

You got any evidence to contradict that or is it a statement made out of bias with no factual foundation?

Someone said before that Green & Hoilett are the only two left on mega bucks and we can't get rid of either of them.
