Great news if true. Shame it doesn't look like it'll be a permanent deal but at least he'll spend the last year of his contract damaging another team. I know everyone hates an 'I told you so' moment but I was dead against him joining in the first place and will be glad to see the back of him.
Don't we all owe Ade? From the rumours i heard at the time it was a fallout between him (and Kaboul) and a bunch of the youngsters about work rate which caused Poch to go and study the data and find out that the youngsters were indeed right. This led to they're accelerated adoption into the first XI. Ade basically made Kane
You didn't tell us - unless you have been around longer than we knew? You've only been around for 3 weeks
I actually told Harry Redknapp to his face that I thought his decision to bring Adebayor to the club was an appalling move. Thank goodness he is going. The mood at the club will be a damn sight brighter wihen his departure becomes official.
Interesting......https://www.reddit.com/r/coys/comments/3eu5yb/lads_im_sitting_next_to_levy_at_a_bar/
I always thought it was more Levy scrimping on the £20m we should've spent on a striker immediately after qualifying for the CL than a Harry decision. Interesting.
Harry worked with him for the BBC covering the World Cup if you remember. It was then that the deal was started.
Signing Adebayor on a loan was a good move in my opinion. .. signing him permanently was a big mistake which was foreseeable
Absolutely. You get the best out of people like him when they're out of their comfort zone. Sweetness and light for a year then as soon as a nice contract comes in it all goes to pot. Its astonishing he still finds employment as a footballer. I guess he must have enough personality to convince some people that he won't fall out with THEM, not this time...its always someone else's fault after all...
It seems very odd that a manager of a Premiership club would look place so much emphasis on something as superficial as work rate. Work rate doing what? Work rate is very desirable IF it's channeled in the right direction. Work rate can also include running around like a headless chicken. Which, in retrospect, sounds a bit like our defence last season!
Ade looks like a done deal, SS reporting he'll have a medical tomorrow: http://www.skysports.com/football/n...-close-on-tottenham-striker-emmanuel-adebayor
He didn't, did he? That's why he picked Kane ahead of Adebayor, I thought. He used the data to prove his point to him when he objected, as I heard it.
Maybe I'm mis-remembering but I don't remember thinking that Bale's performances were poor during the "jinx" period. It was a case of some freaky stats not reflecting his ability (though he was not at the level he would reach, obviously). I see the opposite with Lamela - decent-looking stats but really never anything very impressive in the talent on show ever, As for who we could get who would be better for 10m - no idea. Probably someone from abroad who I've never seen play. But decent players get signed for that sort of fee often. Wasn't the Cabaye fee about that? Hell, even Spurs can sign decent players for about that much (Eriksen). Pelle, Mane, Cisse, Tadic, Bojan all signed for about that or less - just off the top of my head. Yeah - 10m is the low end of things but if he was a youth player who had come through the ranks and put in his performances and was now 22/23 or whatever he is we would bite the buyer's hand off.
