http://blog.paddypower.com/2015/07/...-while-crystal-palace-are-certain-to-be-safe/ The bookies usually are quite good with their odds so this makes encouraging reading.
. Must be a mag. Toad said on July 20, 2015 @ 1:08 pm Villa, Sunderland & Watford will go down. Norwich took 4 points off bournemouth and 6 from watford last year so can’t see that happening. Villa are losing their best players, Sunderland have pushed their luck too many times in recent years and are a waste of premier league space and Watford rely on goals which they won’t get in the prem.
I was literally just typing something similar. Far from encouraging. It shows that many people still think we're relegation fodder. Here's to hoping (and expecting) us to prove them all wrong.
People think we are relegation fodder cos frankly we are. Mind, a fit Giacc and some actual service for Defoe could change that, if we'd won 5 of the many 0-0 or 1-1 games last season we'd have been comfortable in mid table.
To be fair, you can't blame everybody for naming us as a certainty to be fighting relegation or to be relegated. We are down there every season.
Out of that lot the bookies are being very generous with Leicester at 11/4. I'll probably end up having a decent go at that.
If other fans, pundits (who I care little about to be fair) etc think we are relegation fodder what do potential signings think? Does it matter to them or does money just simply talk?
Cant see Sunderland going down, if we were that bad Dick wouldn't have stayed, I think we could finish about 12th, as for relegation here's a dark horse how about Everton they look like losing Stones and Lukaku could also go, I think Watford and Bournemouth could be in Trouble as well.
WHU had a rubbish run last season and new manager so they could be in it, Bournemouth, Watford and Villa for me though. Villa keep selling their best players and now they are worse than us up front. WBA are signing championship players and they will go close. Leicester in disarray, so SAFC with good signings will be alright. Norwich always seem to be ok in the premier league, and Everton have battlers in their team so no problems for them.
For me the main thing is that the bookies have us finishing outside the bottom three although only at seventeenth. If we spend 20-30 million on two players (midfield and striker) we should get up to 12-15th. If not and other teams around us strengthen then we should worry as we could easily drop into the bookies bottom three and they are usually right. Lens may improve us although untested in the premiership, Coates and Kaboul are a similar standard to O'Shea and Brown, Matthews is back up for Jones so the squad has improved a little but we are still very much like last seasons team. Get two in and we could be safe by March/April.
Everybody knows we need to strengthen further, come on, two or three players will make all the difference, and now is the time to get them in, we all know it makes sense, we have to speculate now.
Speak for yourself mate. The time to get them in is when our targets become available. No premature panic buying whoever is available for my, not when primary targets are to become available in the near future. There's could be more players to add to the shortlist who unexpectedly become available in the rear future too. It's about patience and timing for me, not 'get it done now'
Im just worried it will be another Rodwell type late signing, hope Im wrong but I,m getting nervous, I admire you cool Funk and hope you are right and I am wrong, believe me
