Yes, we know the season starts in a fortnight. However, there's still roughly 5 weeks of the transfer window left. No need to panic yet.

    Just saying

My point being, we are weeks into the season and prefer we had started with targets in, pre season together up and running, we do the same every year sign players late and then not match fit and thus team ready for October???

The transfer window widens just before it shuts, that's why a lot of business is done last minute. Ideally we would like to have every player signed before the start of the season, but its not normally possible. Every other team of our ilk is in the same boat.

Tell you one thing with saying 'window open 4 weeks into the season'.

If we **** up the first 4 games which could give us a flyer, that might have a massive effect on the season. No 2 ways about it.

What is all this about financial fair play and having to sell before we buy? We have spent 15 mil, does this rule only apply to us? Man U seem not to be affected or Liverpool. It is not working in our favour or is it just an excuse

It's bollocks mate, people are saying it's Ellis being tight, I don't believe that for a second, Dick made it clear he'd return only if his conditions are met.

My belief is we have missed out on a few but are still looking to spend, why wouldn't we with the new TV deal on the horizon?

FFP doesn't affect us until we challenge for a European place anyway and that's a way off yet.

Having spoken to people who know Ellis, he is being cautious. In his view MON spunked a load of money up the wall (my words not his) with little return. Then PDC tried a different approach buying lots of average players on less money. Ultimately this just left us with players ww could not get rid of.

He will spend the money on the right players but only the right players. He is also nervous about big long contracts he thinks would be risky.

I was told Ellis does make money from Sunderland and while he can balance the books and grow the business he will operate shrewdly. If the right player will come to us he will spend the money and they are actively seeking those players.

We'll iam one of the people who say short is a tight ****. Took control in 2009 and the net spend is about 28m. He would of got that back and more pal.

I remember last year when poyet signed a new deal and people said he must be getting money blah blah and look what happened.

I agree about the ffp and I think sunderland Yours that and players don't want to move to the north east as excuses for not spending money.

I'm not in control of all the figures but we must be one of the teams that has spent the least amount of money up to now.

I wonder how much of a budget Dick has to play with and under what conditions will money be released.

we all know we have to shift some dead wood and am curious as to whether this is holding up any potential signings, I hope not.

FFP isn't just about transfer fees, it's also about wages and most importantly revenue. Man U and Liverpool's revenue eclipse ours with ease. Why do you think the club is investing so much into the commercial side and club profile? To raise our revenue.

I just think as a club we work in mysterious ways in the transfer market and I do honestly think there's a surprise or two waiting to happen. Wouldn't surprise me if right out of the blue we sign someone like Wesley Sneijder <whistle> ;)

The club only appears to work in mysterious ways because we only see/hear part of the way it runs.

I have the same problem with my business. People email and facebook message us all the time saying: "why did you not get band X to play at the venue" "band Y is doing Download festival get them to do a warm up" why did you not do this, why did you not do that etc... etc....

All of a sudden everyone is an expert in the music industry, because they have been to a few concerts and have Sky arts at home.

I see the football industry being no different but on a much bigger scale, there will be all sorts going on we know nothing about. Having spent the last year working with Alejhandro Agag who was one of the owners of QPR I know this to be the case.

I also know the people who own the clubs are in business to make money, they ultimately sign players as investments, if its not a smart investment they will not do it regardless of who it is.

    Absolute peach that mate.. <ok>

Being a professional photographer I can always tell people what cameras to buy depending on their experience but there's no point at all in buying Rembrandt's brushes, they aren't going to make your paintings better until you know how to use them..

Don't know why the **** I'm talking about this here but wtf..<laugh>

Taking a step back - look at our squad strengths (keeping positive - its hard at times I know ) as we now have a manager who knows how to manage players to get a successful team
    Goalkeepers - fine ,
Defence - adequate with the new additions (even our slow defence was pretty solid last season)
Midfield - Larsson ,Catts, Giaccherini, Rodwell (he can only get better- surely ), Alvarez , Johnson, Lens,
Forwards - Defoe, Whickham, Fletch, Graham, Whatmore
Thats a useful team - could be better by strenthening - but I'm sure players await in the pipeline - awaiting the top clubs transfer activity
We must follow our song and be Wise Men not Fools Rushing In and not make rushed "dodgy" signings - Advocaat is not a fool (not too sure about Congleton yet mind ...jurys still out ) KTF and ETU

Dunno why some people can't accept the domino effect.

You could have a deal in place to buy Jonny Evans for example (wishful thinking here) but LVG will not leave himself in the ****, so says he has to stay until Ramos (again wishful thinking) signs.

Real won't let Ramos leave until they have his replacement in. Who happens to be at PSG who are currently spending all of their time trying to sign Pogba and Di Maria.

United won't let ADM leave until Real agree to sell them Bale or at the very least until Pedro arrives at Old Trafford.

Barca want ****ing Pogba to replace Pedro though, Jesus Christ!!!

Johnny Evans only wants to stay as well and fight for his place, the ****!
