A very quick bit of googling shows he did indeed score one against Southampton and 2 against Bury, which I had managed to completely erase from my memory! I should really start going to google first, rather than just pulling numbers out my arse.
I always liked Johan. He also chested down that assist for Hooper's spectacular looping goal from about 30 yards.
Steven Fletcher is rumoured to be available from Sunderland for around £4m. At 28, surely a better bet than Lambert?
Are high wages for Sunderland much different to "normal" wages at Liverpool? Obviously both are high for us, but his stock has fallen significantly since he joined Sunderland so there might be room to negotiate there. Not suggesting he's the answer to all our problems, but as an alternative to Lambert, he has some advantages at least. I'd rather have him in our squad than Lafferty, though would prefer a better signing to both, but I've no idea who that'd be!

Do we believe this? I know nothing about him so I can't really comment! http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2015/07/2...ty-join-premier-league-suitor-interested-in/?
He sounds like a good alternative to Brady. I'll look out for him in the Inter v Real game tonight in Aus.
...Although, ITV now reporting that Brady is in Norwich undergoing medical and negotiating personal terms. http://www.itv.com/news/anglia/2015...e-brady-fee-hull-city-manager-bruce-confirms/
I can't help that feel both Alonso and Nagatomo were merely inquired after in case Brady falls through, plus to show Hull we weren't afraid to look elsewhere. This has probably just taken a while to be reported.
Brady done deal at last ! http://www.itv.com/news/anglia/2015...e-brady-fee-hull-city-manager-bruce-confirms/
You're alright by me fella I don't remember that post from four years ago, though I do recall some of your other posts being informative and interesting so I'm certain anything you posted heat of the moment wasn't meant in any seriousness, and your apology from the time appears to suggest this. Ignore Dave, he's a good old boy but he can be an old woman when he wants to
Brilliant news, I am very very happy about this Seems like most fans are as well, 64% of the vote on that website say they're happy with the £7m fee, and whilst it's about a million more than I thought we'd pay, in today's climate I still think it represents a very good deal for a highly rated player with tons of potential. Great start to the week
That fee will almost certainly not be £7m but something totalling that figure with add ons i suspect. As we never reveal the fee we will probably never know. Good addition to the squad.
I hope you're right, DH, but AN did tell Paddy Davitt that he was looking for 3-4 new players after Dorrans and Mulumbu, including a LB, striker and keeper. It may be that he meant Brady covering the LB need, but he isn't a LB as such. I'm also a bit concerned that he didn't mention a CB. Everton are reported to be willing to pay £10m for van Dijk, which, if true, means we can probably rule him out.
I'm sure AN will have looked into the possibility of signing a centre back this summer but if we want quality acquisitions that will improve our team, finding a centre back that fulfils that statement is tricky to find, especially given our relatively limited budget. Brady improves us. Mulumbu improves us. Dorrans improves us. I believe van Dijk would improve our starting eleven, he's a talented lad, but I'm not surprised clubs like Everton and Southampton are in for him and even if they weren't, the £10m asking price will likely be out of our reach. AN isn't going to sign a centre half who he doesn't feel offers us something better. Neil Adams did that last summer and wasted fees and wages on Cuellar and the hideously bad Miquel. I personally would be spending the rest of our budget on a centre half, although as someone who was very critical of Martin playing centre back last season - mainly because he was dire when playing there initially - I actually have less concerns about him next season than I did a year ago. Not only do I think he has improved in that role - mainly because he has Bassong alongside him I suspect - I think he is more suited to the Premier League as he does read the game fairly well. Like I say, in an ideal world we would bring in a top centre back and partner Bassong with him - but it might not be possible.
Just a note on Hull chasing Hooper - there's nothing in it. Hooper is staying. RvW and Lafferty will leave if deals can be put in place.
