Good Morning Everyone, Leeds Pre season misery continued after another 2-1 loss, this time against Hockenheim. Is it all as bad as it sounds. Both Frankfurt and Hockenheim are established Bundesliga teams in the top half of the table. Lewis Cook was taken off as a precaution due to a toe injury, but he is fine. Surely we would rather be playing these sorts of teams than the likes of the team(s) we stuffed 16-0 this time last season. Rosler has stated he knows 8 out of the 11 starting line up he will pick. Who do we think they are? Does it look like Liam Cooper is slipping down the pecking order. We had such great expectations of him when we first signed him. Sharp has gone, and here is what he had to say :- please log in to view this image
So not one of the coaches fancied Billy, which is a shame because he's a confidence player. Redders killed him because he never got the ball up to him and the team under Redders was only averaging 4 on target attempts per game which is fooking shocking. preferred Billy to Morison anytime but gone now and such a shame, hope he has a good career. Not bothered about the recent results because they were against good opposition, however I hope Rosler is thinking that maybe he's not as good as he thought he was. Sort it our Uwe and fast please. Give the team a formation and structure please and lets start playing some good football. Wonder if all the left winger garbage will die this week because it got boring, and seems obvious now that we aint getting one
Morning Ell and All Hopefully these defeats have shown Rosler and Celino that we need more than just a LM. There isn't enough players in the squad and the likes of Killock and Phillips need to go out on loan. Hopefully we see a few more signing between now and Sept 1st. Shame it didn't work out for Sharp. I for one wanted him to come to ER and succeed but something things don't work out.
Morning Doc, agree about Sharp, he is a confidence player, and a great poacher. Useless for Leeds due to lack of efforts on target.
Morning Wolves, On paper, it looks like we have a decent side with the likes of Bamba, Bryam, Wood, Mowatt, Cook, Taylor. I cannot think of many Championship teams that would give their right arm for these players. I'd go as far to say that if we matched the above players against other teams in the Championship in the same positions, ours would be the strongest.
Morning all, I would rather have a tough pre season against quality opposition and the players hopefully find it slightly easier when the league campaign kicks off. I felt the 11 who started were probably the best we have for the formation being used or at the very least worth a place on the bench. For Rosler to say he knows 8 is good news. As it stands I believe we are a decent Championship side, no fear of relegation but sadly no top 6 either. Like the rest of us I was hoping for the promised fantastic signing, if that was Wood 'oh' if not I wonder what went wrong. I am still hoping for a player to join that will just give us more of an edge, now Sharp has left maybe we have a wage to offer for a quality loan signing but I won't be holding my breath.
Good morning to Matt and co from a very chilly cloudy Bardsey I do hope Billy does well no one can say he didn't try he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time A lot of discussion is going on about the squad is no better than last season I say utter tripe Why because we nmow have too young lads given the backing of our fans can make a name for themselves Erwin and Wood Young lads that want to do well' Yes they will miss one or two but in the scheme of things I'm sure it will be a promising partnership Adeyemi is another young boy with a big future again give him time to settle I think it was right to play good opposition it gives Rosler time to see how they are developing We have a very good back 5 Silvestri will develop into a class keeper now we have a proper coachYoung Tayl;or will come on leaps and bounds Beradi should now have settled so right back for him Bamba Capt for me and then it comes to Cooper and Belushi Cooper for me Midfield Adeyemi a cert Sloth or Mowatt not sure and Cook Forwards Wood Erwin and if we don't get a wide boy Doukara I can head a ball Mike honest .Yes the big man must play as if he is a big man and not some wimp What does that gives us which we didn't have last season height and what does height do .Gives us more opportunities to score GOALS! AT set pieces thats what! Sorryv WJ BUT Bianchi Morrison Ajose must be shown the door along with Woottoni In Dakirwa another 6 footer who could replace Byram if we got some proper money for him and a wide boy Murphy or equivalent .Goldson as back up
Elland, Wolves, Ristac and 60, we all seem to agree about the squad, but the big difference between those players thriving and performing or crashing and burning is the coach. I have still yet to be convinced that Rosler is the answer as he hasn't shown me anything yet. I agree that we seem to have a solid backroom team and the club seems to be going forward, I just hope Rosler can bring something to the party otherwise we will be exactly where we have been for the past few seasons, nowhere.
I must admit Doc I am not convinced yet by Rosler but under the set up we had at the time and working directly under Cellino as a coach only I don't think we had much choice. Rosler won't be playing Erwin unless it is two up front, he has said he is a number 10 and not a wide player, WJ said when he watched him (Erwin) he was good on the left and why did Erwin not play ahead of Morisson the other week? Another doubt is why Rosler had to try round pegs in square holes, yes he has hopefully learned but is there anyone here that would have still tried it? Rosler will get my full support, I hope he brings the best out of everyone but like you Doc, I still need convincing.
What he says and what he does are a different matter. He is not going to give away his best formation WJ is right as usual Erwin can play wide left or right has two good feet great balance and great shooting skills he isn't going to trumpet that around until after the Burnley game this is his DARK HORSE
I disagree Leeds60 now is about finding your best formation and first team 11 what difference does a pre-season game make about showing your hand? So we surprise Burnley then what, our hand is shown and teams catch us out for the next 45 games and know what Erwin is all about? I haven't a clue if Erwin is good or not, I hope he is fantastic for us, I just worry that he either isn't cracked up to be as good as some feel or he is but Rosler isn't going to be playing him much. I guess we shall see as the season unfolds. My comments previously about leaving him out isn't a dig at his ability, more a concern over Roslers intentions.
I thought you would but I don't as you know sit on the fence I have watched this lad play he is very good
Morning All, A great point, Elland. He's a poacher, and we didn't give him anything to poach for. He was on a hiding to nothing - a bit like asking a salmon poacher to get results in the local swimming pool.
To be fair to Rosler, Ristac, I don't recall him saying that Erwin was not a wide player, although he certainly said he was a no. 10. I honestly believe that one of the 3 positions he's not sure about is the wide left berth, and it's between Erwin & Doukara for that, I think. At no time in the pre season has Erwin been tried out as a no. 10. Indeed we've not played 4-4-2 once, as I recall. The only thing I can think of is that Erwin is great at tucking in as a no.10 when the ball is coming in from the right. Strange one, tbh.
Morning all. Thanks to all you "Breakfast Debate" guys who keep me informed and up to date with squad news. We do have a great set of fans who are committed to the club and I hope all our hope for the coming season come near the mark. I only hope we can get off to a decent start this season as confidence within the squad will move us to the next level.
Morning WJ - I felt sure I had read it somewhere however searching for it just now I found another article where he feels he is not a natural 10 and can play wider so who knows... http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2015/07/1...e-he-feels-lee-erwin-is-most-effective-at-le/
Well guys I guess we're going to have to wait and see what Rosler is all about. I hope he's great for us and we see some flowing football with plenty of attempts on their goal. I hear there's trouble on the beach in Spain as some fat lad with his armchair is blocking out the sun
