3, all for driver errors. Is this a record?

That race was the perfect tribute to Bianchi.

Am I the only one who questions Alonsos move to McLaren ?

I mean , he left Ferrari , fair enough , but did he not consider the fact that last year , they wrote the season off early & concentrated on this years car ? He was a hot head , I think that he has not changed .......

Er... that's the very reason there is hostility towards him. He's a dick away from the track.

Just back in one piece after a very rainy Secret Garden Party (it's a festival) - watched the GP on record. Cracking race, and what Fats says about the dislike of Lewis is spot on. Nico is a bit detached and cold, but Lewis is just a prat off track.

Re Alonso moving - the McLaren-Honda partnership has always had huge potential, but this season it's not worked. He'll have known this first season would be a struggle so it'll be no surprise. If they're not challenging for the championship next season he'll get itchy feet though. Be interesting to see if they risk putting Vandoorne in the car next season though - he's a very serious talent.

    Spa next up - woohoo!

For what it's worth - re: Hamilton - I had a lecture from Clare Balding at my university and she said she's met Hamilton a few times, at the tracks and also in the TV studios, and she actually thinks he's a really decent and intelligent/engaging bloke. She saved her disdain for the 'huge entourage' who follow him everywhere, don't seem to do anything, and take a cut of the money while acting big time.

One on one he's very polite and engaging. But trust me, I know a LOT of people in F1. He's tolerated within the teams because he's such a massive talent, but he's not widely liked. There was a huge sigh of relief when he left McLaren from the team as they'd basically had their fill of his ways.

I like Clare Balding enormously, and as I said, in a one to one context Lewis comes across well, but he's a wally. Have no doubt about that.

Think about it too - what type of sportsman has a 'huge entourage' following him? Floyd Mayweather for one...and...well yeah, he's a dick too. It's Lewis's choice to have them around remember.

No doubt he's probably an arrogant so-and-so when he's not trying to leave a good impression purposely, I can totally imagine that.

It's kinda more immaturity than arrogance. Talk to anyone in F1, they'll tell you the three hardest drivers to work with are Vettel, Alonso and Hamilton. Vettel and Alonso because they push their teams VERY hard and take no prisoners at all in that (much the same way Schumacher and Senna did). Hamilton because basically he thinks he's a rock star. Therefore, unlike the other two, he's not respected by the people he works with in the same way. They might think FA and SV are buggers, but they respect them. You only need recall the saga of his management to see what he's about, and when he appointed XIX it REALLY pissed his team off - and surprise surprise it didn't work.

Can I just say - nobody is *wrong* to like Hamilton, just as you wouldn't be wrong to like Ronaldo. It's just horses for courses - he's just not my cup of tea when it comes to personality/what I like in a sportsperson. There are plenty who do like both of them!
