Ryan Babel Tweeted 'Stewart Downing has my shirt number #smh' ------ smh in twitterland means shake my head or shaking my head meaning you find something stupid

Paul Dalglish replied 'it's Liverpool's number. Not your number. Thanks for your efforts whilst at LFC but focus on your own club now. Thanks.'

and battle lines have been drawn.

Personally I think Dalglish is right in this instance

Downing has done much more in his career than Babel, so I don't know what he's shaking his head at.

Gotta agree with Paul on that one. It might be your favorite number but it is not your number!! It's not like he made that number legendary, far from it really....

    Babel makes me laugh!

He's an idiot this time though and he needs to concentrate on his own team and not his old Liverpool number.

Okay, maybe he was wrong to suggest Downing wasn't fit to 'succeed' Ryan Babel, but it doesn't mean he should be slammed.

He shouldn't have said it because it was disrespectful.

However, we'd be as bad as him if we decide to disrespect him.

Downing has a number? His deals not even signed yet. He will probably get number 11 with Maxi likely to move on.

no clue but they always have numbers from like 1-100. Ronaldinho was like 88, Zamarano years back was acutally 1+8.

here are some Palermo players to give an example......

    42 Federico Balzaretti ITA D 1.78 70 06-12-81 Turin Fiorentina
    46 Salvatore Sirigu ITA G 1.90 80 12-01-87 Nuoro Venezia
    51 Mauricio Pinilla CHI F 1.88 78 04-02-84 Santiago Grosseto
    66 Siniša Andjelković SVN D 1.86 82 13-02-86 Kranj Maribor
    72 Josip Iličić SVN M 1.89 73 29-01-88 Prijedor Maribor
    77 Jasmin Kurtić

I'd actually love to see a Liverpool team with all the traditional numbers.

    Like:

    ---------------1--------------
    --2-------5--------6-------3--
    --7-------8--------4------11--
    ----------9-------10----------

with 4 being the defensive mid and 8 attacking/ box to box.
9 as main target striker and 10 as support.

I remember when Mido moved to England he wanted the number 99 shirt, but over here you need 99 players to have a number 99 shirt.

Ya, I think with the italians it is usually a case of I used to wear this but I still want this number in it. I think Litmanen did that with us as he wanted 7 in his jersey right?

    What number was Babel.
I'll give you a clue..its in this song. One of my faves from before.
    Ryan Babel cause a rabble.
Scored the winner against the Mancs.
    He's number 19..he's like lightning.
You'll never take our Ryan away.
A signing is imminent.Comments have been disabled on the official site. Its happened every time a signing is on the verge of being finalised.
Two more apparently should be completed tomorrow.Niang(The 16 year old) and Alexander Doni are expected to sign tomorrow.

    Contscrepe.
Tell us again where that European Cup you won in 1999 is?
And why is it that you have a statue of a former Liverpool skipper outside your ground?
    Manchester United...forever in Liverpools shadow.
