I've just discovered there's a Comic Con in Bournemouth. This fact has made my summer.

The Red Arrows have cancelled their display over Portsmouth Harbour today.
Reports that this was due to a 10,000-strong petition demanding that they be re-painted blue before being allowed anywhere near Pompey are as yet unconfirmed.....

It made me chuckle the other week when re-watching Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell that while Mr N was about to perform magic on a shore (at Spithead presumably) a naval officer asked him what he thought of Portsmouth. To which Mr N turned on him and announced, I hate Portsmouth.
So that's Him and Spike Milligan as confirmed Pompey haters. :)

The penultimate stage of the Tour is just about to start: 110.5 km from Modane to the top of the awesome Alpe d'Huez. Chris Froome lost time to Nairo Quintana yesterday but still leads by 2:38, so it's all down to this last climb, which features 22 hairpin bends straight up the side of a mountain, packed with a seething mass of screaming fans, most of whom will have been partying for the last few days. An unbelievable spectacle, that's my Saturday afternoon sorted!

Live on ITV4 if you fancy watching.

Off to New Forest until Tuesday for my birthday trip. Weather is going to be a washout so will probably spend all the time in pubs. Manage the best you can without me. :)

That was a brutal stage! Quintana so close, but no cigar. Froomey gets the maillot jaune and the KoM as well, fantastic.

He is British, despite being born in Kenya. First Briton to win the Tour de France twice, first Briton since Robert Millar in 1975 to win the King of the Mountains, first person since Eddy Mercx to win the GC and the KoM in the same Tour: I'd say he has the knighthood nailed on.

British, as in British parents? I didn't think he moved to Europe until his 20s. I'm not bitching, just asking how "British" he is.
