Nothing surprising so far. We ping it around quite nicely in midfield. Grabban makes a chance for himself through great running and speed, but then screws up the chance. Lots of errors in defence giving them quite a few chances to add to their lead. The defence really looks like it needs sorting out.
Very good control by Mulumbu. If he can do that a few times this season, he's a good addition to the squad.
Excellent result against a top 5 German side. We rode our luck at times but we were much fitter than them and that told in the final 20 minutes.
The rain! There was some really good skating out there - particularly in the Norwich box. Mulumbu had a cracker. Couple of mistakes but really excited to see him in a Norwich shirt. Took his goal very well and a great ball behind Augsberg's defence for Grabban's goal. Thought Grabban was going to waste that second 1 on 1 he had (screwed his first just past the post for those who didn't see), this time by delaying too long, but he just got his shot off in time. Competitive and strong opposition. Good friendly great result.
Cracking acquisition Mulumbu is, too. Better vision and passing than Tettey, scored one and got the assist for the well worked second. Worth every penny we paid for him
Well, they came fifth in the Bundesliga last year, so I guess they are no mugs. To be honest, I don't know what I think. There's a confidence in the team, which is great and so different from the dark days of Hughton, so we're willing to pass the ball around and also try to get into good positions. Grabban as always is inspiring and frustrating in equal measure. Toffolo looked like he belonged on the pitch, which is great. So do we need Brady, or do we need a very good defender? Martin still looks suspect. And I hope Ruddy is rather better than he was for the goal once we're playing for real. But we seem to have a mental toughness now and that should be enough to get us above the line. Yes?
I thought Grabban did well overall and worried their high line with his pace, which is what told for his winning goal. Mulumbu and Tettey looked solid in the middle and Mulumbu got into the box threateningly quite a lot, including his goal from an excellent lay-off from Wes. Promising showing and I certainly thought Toffolo looked the part throughout. He doesn't play like a 19 year old, though he'll be 20 next month.
I commented on twitter the irony that a stand in left back aged 19 was the stand out performer for us in the first 60 minutes? I guess he won't get too many chances to impress, so tried to grabb it with both hands? Decent effort on target from him too, when marauding forward.
A good work out. City looked more cohesive as the game wore on, which I guess is to be expected. Plus that's another Bundesliga scalp to add to our burgeoning collection. So that's two (2) in the last 23 years. Forgive me if I'm not here to comment by the time we get the full set
