Celtic have joined Premier League side Sunderland in the hunt for Senegalese defender Papy Djilobodji.

With Virgil Van Dijk rumoured to be heading out of Celtic Park this summer, plus Jason Denayer’s return to parent club Manchester City, Ronny Deila’s Scottish Premiership champions are on the lookout for another centre-half.

Djilobodji, 26, made 33 appearances last season in all competitions for Ligue 1 outfit Nantes.

Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat is still eager to strengthen his backline before the start of the new season, despite already signing defenders Sebastian Coates, Adam Matthews and Younes Kaboul this summer.

Senegal centre-back Djilobodji, who has 12 international caps, is thought to be keen on a move away from the Canaries this summer.

I wouldn't like to have to come up with a chant for him.
