I wouldn't be too harsh on Gomis, seeing as there have been no quotes from the club, manager, player or his agent reported there was no need for him to say anything. Other than the initial approach by them to us being reported there hasn't been anything else apart from speculation being printed. The club didn't feel the need to say he wan't for sale therefore no real reason for the player to say he didn't want to go. It isn't much difference from the reports of Ash leaving every transfer window from Arsenal to QPR and every other club in between. Never once did he say he wanted to stay probably because there wasn't much substance to it other than interst from the buying club.
Why should Gomis come out and make statements about his intent, no need to justify himself to anyone and the same goes for any player. Its a job of work and all players are entitled to their privacy. In all honesty he has nothing to clarify. As posted earlier Ash has been linked with a move away all summer but he's made no statement and rightly so. The club and the manager have made it perfectly clear that any players who dont want to play for the club will be moved on so one must adsume that all the squad are happy and contented.
But the difference is that Ash wasn't publicly touting himself for a transfer 7 months ago. I thought, with his track record here, he was off.
He does have history so I can understand the feelings of mistrust .He still has to prove himself and may never to the satisfaction of some .
Like I said he will not be going anywhere, and for that info I will charge you nothing!...................
No quotes from the club ?????? there have been a few quotes one being that monk will do all he can to resist gomis leaving......Nothing will satisfy me until i hear it from gomis himself saying he is not going anywhere.......Everything is strangely quiet from his camp and i dont trust anything until the window has closed and he is training with his team mates.....
Swansea City manager Garry Monk confirms Al Ahli offer for striker Bafetimbi Gomis Swansea City have confirmed they did receive an approach from Al Ahli for Bafetimbi Gomis, but said the striker will remain with the Premier League club. The 2013/14 UAE champions had identified Gomis as a candidate to solve their striker shortage, with reports suggesting they had activated a £7 million (Dh39.9m) release clause in the Frenchman’s current contract. Gomis was reportedly open to a deal with the Dubai side that would earn him €3m (Dh12m) per year. However, Ahli announced late Friday the acquisition of Lima from Benfica, which seems to have ended their interest in Gomis. The Brazilian, 32, signed a two-year contract, with the option of another season. MORE ARABIAN GULF LEAGUE NEWS Al Jazira complete signing of Jefferson Farfan to a three-year deal Jorge Valdivia intent on helping Al Wahda deliver on ‘huge potential’ Fixtures released: Al Ain begin title defence against Al Dhafra Asked on Friday night about Ahli’s interest in Gomis, Swansea manager Garry Monk said the Arabian Gulf League club had indeed been in touch. “That club made contact with the us and made an enquiry,” he said. “That’s no problem, that happens. But Bafe is a Swansea City player. We are looking forward to working with him and him hopefully having a productive season.” Regarding the £7m release clause in Gomis’s contract, Monk added: “The wording is what matters — it doesn’t mean you have to release the player — and I’m pretty sure with our chairman it would favour the club. “I’m not thinking about him leaving. Bafe is focused on doing a good job. We had the same thing in January, but he ended up finishing the season well.” In completing the deal for Lima, Ahli can now register their final squad for next month’s Asian Champions League quarter-final first leg against Naft Tehran. The deadline was Saturday. Lima further swells Ahli’s foreign contingent, with only he, Everton Ribeiro and Kwon Kyung-won guaranteed to make Ahli’s 2015/16 Arabian Gulf League roster. Either Ciel or Oussama Assaidi will fill the final slot, with the former the favourite to be selected.
Well I've watched the first half of the forest game, and he does not inspire confidence if we're going to rely him getting the goals.
I would say he is 80% staying and 20% going........The money is tempting but playing in the premiership could make him a house hold name and eventually earn him more money, I think he will stay myself....
The point I was making was that the club hadn't said he wasn't for sale so for the same reason he had no reason to say he wanted to stay. You said yourself the above quote wasnt definitive enough on Thursday and you wanted the club to come straight out and say Gomis is not for sale. That is what I was alluding to when saying no quotes from the club regarding not selling him
