Hey guys, How confident do you lot feel regarding André Villas-Boas? Do you feel he is capable enough for Chelsea? Or is he a bit young and inexperienced? I mean he hasn't ever had any REAL success before, and I hear that he is having a very hard time settling in at Chelsea. Your thoughts?
He won every single trophy in every competition last season at Porto blowing away even Jose's records in that league. They smashed a lot of pretty decent teams along the way to the Europa cup last season and he was the tactics guru under Jose at the bridge so has plenty of experience at the top level for someone so young. He's been training since the age of 17 as a coach and was personally schooled by Bobby Robson at Porto. He's an intelligent, charming man that also appears to have excellent man management skills. I think he is a really good appointment.
Hmm you could be right. I think that the problems he is experiencing settling in at Chelsea though will turn out to be quite a big thing. Apparantly he is feeling very homesick and is not enjoying life here in England. I wish him the best, but at the moment he looks like one of those 'one-season only managers' Lets just hope RA has some other candidates lined up...
Err... Lets just hope he's given time and flexibility to shape the team and make it his own... I will be happy with that...and the prem of course
Where did you see that he was homesick? I haven't seen that anywhere and he spent several years at Chelsea in the past and time in Italy without any problems. I would be very surprised if that was the case.
I think Roman might have to give him more time than he's given to your recent managers. He seems like a "legacy" type of manager who will want to build the club from the ground up. Depends on how patient Roman is, and on how much influence he wants to have on footballing matters.
Defo...if Mourhino hadn't been such a hot head it could have been him, but it's also not really his way to be honest. AVB has a very different approach to the game and coaching in general it would seem, and we don't yet know how well it will work for us, but given time anyone with his potential should be successful...look at SAF. The real issue, as you highlighted, is how much Roman will intefere and also how long he will hold off thumping the red button when things don't go the way he wants...
It's what all Chelsea fans want. A manager that can stay with us for the long term but with Romans track record that's not something we expect. AVB does seem to be a lot more humble than Jose but he obviously still has a lot of balls as he's personally overseen a complete revamp of the back room staff with some people leaving who appeared to be entrenched at the club. He cancelled the Vitesse friendly pretty quickly and put all transfers on hold until he had personally evaluated the squad. He's not a yes man like Carlo and hopefully Roman will give him time to get results on the pitch. If he can do that he could be around for sometime and the interfering would stop. May well be a pipe dream, but you never know!
The whole 'home sickness' thing has been on several sports websites :S I guess you guys are not sports fans or something. Fact is, it appears Andre is not settling in so far. This will cause a lot of trouble for Chelsea in my opinion. I think maybe a manager chance in Janurary could become a reality... hmm
Well how about you give us a link to a ligitiment source. He probably just got his information off some 'Manc' fan site. Not to mention his disjointed and poor sentances. I mean what does: "I think maybe a manager chance in Janurary could become a reality" actually mean......
His link is his are arsehole, where all this is coming from and so I would rather not see it, especially since it's probably been used and abused throughout the years by his uncle and dad's mates.
