Patrick Bamford has signed a season long loan deal with Crystal Palace.
Good move for him. PL experience etc.
Hope he can recreate his Boro form in the PL so we get a decent price for him next summer :p

Not sure thats a good move for Bamford. I know murray isn't the best of strikers but he seems first choice. Palace typically only play 1 up front and they have Gayle, Chamakh (sort of), Murray, Campbell and maybe Mutch to fight with for that spot. Sanogo went their last season and didn't get much game time. Would have preferred to have him go to another club who might play less attacking football but where he would definitely get more minutes.

Villa might have been a good place for him to go or Brom

Wish he'd stayed at the Bridge and been given a chance as 3rd striker. Like Bodanki says, a sale next year is now looking fairly certain. My guess is that we wont be able to attract these good kids much longer, they understand that they are nothing more than cash cows to FFP and will never play for Chelsea. Potential top class 19 and 20 year olds are popping up in other clubs and getting chances they will never get at Chelsea.
However, hard to argue with Joses results despite him sending all our good kids away.

Is that just the way it's going now though with the top clubs? How many youth products are getting game time at City or Arsenal or Liverpool?

So hard for these kids to break in at the expense of seasoned internationals etc.

Can't see this changing unless the rules require club trained players to be in every match day squad.

Pretty sure I read something the other day saying he picked Palace because he had been promised a certain amount of game time.

I wish this is written in the loan agreement.

Well he signed a new contract yesterday, do he cant be too down about the situation.

We keep on getting young players too, so im not worried much.

If they are good enough, they will play!

You may see some introduced in the next couple of years. I think the tap has been turned off by Roman, the last two seasons you have sold to buy and in Jose's last 3 interviews he has made a point of mentioning the millions other clubs are spending. He is either preparing his excuses in case things don't go as well as last season or making a point to Roman that others are strengthening.

Mourinho a never had to blood the kids though. Every club he's been at has been top of the money charts in the respective league and staying for 3/4 years max it's all about short term goals.

It's not a bad thing, if you're going to be at a club for 3 years you aren't going to put too much into the development of the youth teams but if he's serious about now staying at Chelsea for the next 5-10 years will be his biggest challenge in blooding youth and rebuilding the squad.

Might not be tonnes of kids coming through other top clubs but even the young players they buy get game time.

It sseems a lot of the younger players you buy (even foreign ones) get shipped out on loan and sold on.

I dont thibk hunk attracting young players to din will be difficult even if not having a history of playing them as most are greedy ****s woth dodgy agents (no names <whistle>) that will happily go and get x amount to sit in reserves or be on loan for 3 years before being sold off, much like Patrick Roberts has done at City.

Think this is a good move personally. Should settle pretty quickly as they're in London and he'll get the opportunity to score some goals with Cabaye, Bolasie, Puncheon etc in the midfield.

I know the Van Ginkel deal was the more Stoke play him, the less they pay us. So it gives them an incentive to give him game time. I wonder if it'll be the same here.

At least he's not gone to a side who will struggle every week. They're a decent side and should be after the top half. I think he'll do well.

Connor joins Palace. Another kid competition for Bamford.
    Will he get decent chances?
