Hutton-Le-Hole near Lstingham is a lovely village as well. Again, if with the kids, there's a museum there too. There's also Flamingoland zoo and pleasure park near Pickering.
As the resident Yorkshire man, I suggest leaving Thirsk and going to York or Leeds (feel all dirty for saying Leeds) if you want stuff to do.
If you go to Yark and are drinking get yourself to House of Trembling Madness, Three Legged Mare, Pivni or York Tap You can walk along the walls there for free and places like the shambles, the minster and the oldest areas like Petergate/Stonegate are good to just wander around. There's Museum Gardens which is like a big park with a ruined abbey in it and Barley Hall which is an old building from the 14th century... all that's free lad, don't bother with the ****e paid for stuff like the viking centre and dungeons... you could do a ghost walk though, there's a famous one that starts outside Trembling Madness most evenings Of course you could go into the Yorkshire Dales if you want some nature views and fresh air
As a resident of york, I can confirm this man knows where to drink! Get herself to York, cracking place for a night out with loads of good spots to eat and drink. Does tend to get overrun with pikies on race days mind. T'Dales and t'moors are wonderful places to visit but not when pissed, maybe for the following day to blow off the cobwebs
Er, welcome, I guess? Joined 2011 and that's your first post? Now that's what I call a slow posting rate...
Thanks, been a long time lurker (as you can see). Did occasionally post on the old bbc 606 circa 2005 but have been a bit shy here until now-was waiting for the optimum moment. Either that or the fact that I was pissed last night and some of my favourite pubs being named in a post made it irresistible to speak up.
Fair enough I was also a long-lurker and finally joined to make comments about how to translate Schweinsteiger's name. At some point there's always a topic that hooks us in... Are you a Liverpool fan or is it just luck that our board gets the honour of your first post?
