... you've missed the most impressive bit ... the bit where, in the last third of the season, we put him on stilts and made him play at the back with the letters H-U-T-H on his shirt, thereby confusing the opposition whilst stemming the tide of soft goals that had been our achilles heel up to then ... he hadn't been quite as good when he played in central midfield in the run of 8 winless league games that preceded that run ... but as you say, definitely the most important part of our survival ...
It's not witchcraft mate ........ if you believe in karma then surely you not laughing is counteracted by me laughing. If you can't have a bit of fun & banter then you can keep karma or whatever else you have to offer. This board would be a pretty dull place without it.
No ... I'm saying that "the most important part of our survival" was not down to one individual player .. it was a combination of things that came together ... 1) Switching to a back 5 with two wing backs that had tons of pace and started getting the ball into the right area for our most prolific goalscorer (Ulloa) to benefit from ... prior to that the poor guy had been ploughing a lone furrow and feeding off scraps during our very poor run of results 2) The dominating combative presence of Huth who completely transformed our defensive capability - prior to his arrival any ball lauched into our box created havoc - after it - he tended to win anything launched in - confidence spread throughout the defnce as a whole - now a cult hero with the fans 3) Cambiasso was superb but his effectiveness is sorely blunted without a solid platform around (and particularly behind) him - he is getting on a bit and could be a spectator in some games (a minority admittedly) where we couldn't get a foothaold in the game e.g Man United, Southampton, Swansea (all away) - otherwise a complete class act and yes, we will miss him 4) The growth in confidence and 'presence' of the likes of Vardy, Schlupp and Mahrez as the season progressed - all first season in the Prem - and every reason for thinking they will be even better this coming season 5) A bit of luck - you need the odd break - David Nugent got injured in the warm up against Swansea at home - Ulloa who had been benched (see 1) came back in - scored the first in a 2-0 win and then went on to bag regularly in the remaining games ..
You forgot to add in having a very easy run in mate, the only team of note you played in the last 2 months was Chelsea and fortunately for you guys you managed to come across some form just in time for the run in.
From what I saw he was the most important part of your survival ....... if not for his contribution you'd be down. The other points are fair enough but without Cambiasso none of it would've mattered imo.
... we beat Swansea and Southampton; the latter put 5 past Villa in the game after we beat them ... neither was easy ... and yes we did hit form but had also played very well in games before the run-in where we either got nothing or less than we perhaps deserved ... e.g Arsenal and Everton away - where we had a real good go and caused them both no end of trouble ... at Everton we had come from 1-0 down to lead 2-1 only for Upson to deflect Lukaku's otherwise missing header into his own net in the last few minutes ... such is life. The final table is to me the truest measure of a teams capabilities over a season - we finished 14th - will losing Cambiasso inevitably mean that we finish below that? Personally I think we'll do at least as well this season - the eternal optimism of the football fan perhaps
Cambiasso never stood out for me whenever I watched Leicester to be fair, wasn't often of course. They looked like a solid unit lacking a bit up top, Huth was a genius signing and it's a piss take we never went for him IMO. Always been solid.
Southampton were without a win for a month when you played them, they were in the worst form they were in all season, the swansea result was a decent one though, fair play there. You were playing well before your great run at the end? You hadn't won a league game since January not exactly indicative of a team playing well, though I can't say I saw a lot of your games. I tend to agree with you when you say the table is the truest measure of a teams capabilities over the season and when I look at the table I just think it shows there is very little between Villa in 17th and you in 14th (you might even include West Brom one place above). All a matter of perspective I suppose.
Fair points .. you are right we had not won a league game since January but actually had played better than that suggested ... we were never beaten by more than a 2 goal margin all season. I saw every game - either live or streamed and there were only 3 where we were completely out of it all game ... Swansea away - by far our worst - Southampton away and Man United away ... ... as for Villa - played them 3 times and lost twice - but dominated all 3 games - their current predicament is at least providing a degree of comfort ... them losing Benteke and Delph from that squad is, IMHO, far more damaging to their survival prospects than us losing Cambiasso... only time will tell.
Villa without Benteke would have gone, do question. I don't rate Delph and never have, it confuses me that one. Average as ****.
I agree with you about Villa mate, I'd be very concerned if I were a Villa fan at the moment, though they've got a lot of money coming in so I'd think they're going to be spending a few quid over the next few weeks. What are the general feelings amongst Leicester fans with Ranieri coming in mate?
There is a split to be fair .. some are still reeling about Pearson's departure ... the older heads (of which I'm one) realise that the club goes on whilst managers come and go ... Ranieri's CV is pretty damn good tbf and our owners will certainly back him funds wise ... I'm cautiously optimistic ... hopefully this season will be more about the players and what happens on the pitch ... rather than the manager's antics off it ...
Fair enough mate, I can't imagine he'd have been accepted very enthusiastically if we'd of been in for him like but he has got tons of experience. Good luck for the season anyway mate (not too much luck like)
Hmmm .... do makems hibernate like tortoises? ... our Thai owners were obviously not happy; because the 3 players (all development squad - no competitive first team appearnces amongst them) all had their contracts terminated as a result ... one was Nigel Pearson's son - undoubtedly contributing to the managers own exit ... now you're awake, would you like some lettuce or perhaps just a sip of water?
I live in thailand ffs I dont follow your piss ant of a club news. It made news for one day. Even here you are small news.
