This is a new one on me...
    Anyone heard of him?

Newcastle United have made an initial approach for Feyenoord winger Jean-Paul Boetius after missing out on Florian Thauvin.

The Marseille winger, who was spotted by head scout Graham Carr some years ago and was the subject of a bid in January 2013, was again approached by the Premier League outfit but a proposed move fell through.

Steve McClaren is now concentrating on the highly-rated Netherlands international to further bolster his attacking options, with the club hoping a fee of around €2 million (£1.4m) will snap up the 21-year-old.

Boetius's contract expires next summer and McClaren feels a reduced fee can be agreed with Feyenoord for a player who represented his country at youth level before earning a senior outing in March 2014.

Newcastle signed striker Aleksandar Mitrovic from Anderlecht earlier on Tuesday, for a reported fee of £13m, and owner Mike Ashley is ready to further fund McClaren's summer recruitment drive.

Georgino Wijnaldum arrived earlier in July, for a fee believed to be around £15m, and McClaren is understood to retain an interest in QPR's Charlie Adam but is not willing to pay the £15m asking price.

I understand the need for a strong squad but I'm not ready to give up on Cabella and don't want to see Aarons and even Roberts progress being hampered by signing another winger. Sort out the piss poor defemde

We dont really need any more forward players IMO. We could maybe do with an additional striker but if we are playing 1 up top then we have Cisse, Mitrovic and Perez which gives us options.

A CB and left back should do us.

Agree ish with all above ..and not knowing anything about him..

But could be a replacement for Obertan, Gouf. (Hopefully)

Ie 2 ..young ..wingers in this lad plus Aarons (not being forced to play them continuously till they break (aarons)).
Roberts as the ..youth (might get this odd game depending)...winger

Also this fella might be good too..or more, one for for next year

Does anyone know when Aarons contract is up? Thought he was supposedly renegotiating.last year but it had stalled?
so he could be gone pretty soon if he doesn't re-sign / wants away? Maybe that's part if the reasoning too

    Changed your mind?

So what makes you think the defemde doesn't need new players?

I heard this Defemde is the next big thing to come out of Africa. Man mountain of a centre half with real pace and power.
