Simple question really, as we are not going to go into the season with these two and Cech, so it's between Ospina and Chensey for that number 2 spot. Ospina was better last season and also had a very good Copa America, while Chensey despite having talent proved last season that he is also a grade A pillock.

Ospina is not going to let us down with any off the pitch antics, but he also not going to grow and in my opinion he is just not tall enough to ever become a top keeper, especially in the PL. Chensey also counts as a home grown player, so he has that in his favour. After we signed Cech, there was strong rumours of Ospina heading to Turkey, but those have died down and he is still very much an Arsenal player.

I would personally keep Ospina next season and send Chensey out on loan somewhere, in the hope that he finally matures and comes back a better keeper and a better professional.

What say you, Chensey or Ospina?

I'd keep Ospina because I can't help but think that Chesney will never have the discipline to become a top goalkeeper.I'd love him to prove me wrong though <ok>

A no brainer for me, i'd take Ospina as number 2 and loan Chesney out. Problem is Chesney is still young and developing, he needs to play full-time football now to continue his development. Wenger did right by loaning Jenks out and we can see him develop well with West Ham, had he stayed, he would have been rotting on the bench or playing reserve games. Everyone knows, including Chesney, that Cech will be playing all our league and Champions League games, apart from very few that Wenger deems fit to rest him. Only real chance is the League Cup and maybe FA cup. This just isn't enough for Chessers.

I think the rumours of sending him to Roma on loan is good but i'd prefer a Prem side. I also wouldn't make it permanent, just in case he pulls a Coqs.

Szseszny is older than De Gea and Courtois and only 20 months younger than Ospina so this trash about him still being young and developing is old news. He's good but not good enough.

For a keeper he is still young. Remember every player develops at different stages and he still appears to be immature.

I'd keep Szsesny and sell Ospina, which is harsh on Ospina but I feel that Chesney has the potential to improve far beyond Ospina's ability. I also feel that a lot of Chesney's problems are mental, and the best way to improve that is to train and compete against a model professional such as Cech, much rather than to get shipped out to another side where he'll be in the same situation as with us a few years ago - where he's guaranteed a starting spot, while there may not be someone as experienced as Cech to guide him/improve him.

It's also my opinion that most/all of Chesney's faults are mental and that if he gets his mindset sorts and sorts out his application/professionalism and communication then he could go on to become an excellent keeper, I think Cech could help him with all of those.

For God sakes can people stop bringing up the age and Shezny being young, OSPINA IS JUST 1 YEAR OLDER Than Shezny, Ospina is only 26, not 35.

Glad someone mentioned that. Just because he looks like a 35 year old mafioso henchman doesn't mean he is!

    I agree with this.

I also 100% blame Ospina for many of the goals that we conceded towards the end of the season.

I think Ospina did okay last season, but I agree with your point about some of the goals we conceded being down to Ospina. One that sticks in the mind is the first goal we conceded at Spurs where he parried the ball into Kane's feet. There were a few examples of this, sometimes he got away with it, other times we conceded. Also I think Cech/Szczesny would have saved the goal against Swansea at home.

Think he could have done better with some of the Monaco goals too, think Cech would have saved some of them as well. They were not unstopable goals.

It now appears certain that Chesney is going to Roma on loan so Ospina will be our second choice keeper next season.I posted on another thread a couple of weeks ago that I'd read somewhere that Wenger sees Martinez as our long term goalkeeper

So then that's the end of Shezny at Arsenal. Only has himself to blame, he was given the greatest opportunity, for a long time he never had a proper 2 to threaten him, instead of fully throwing himself into the role, he slacked off, let the hype and arrogance get to his head, and well, this is what happens.

I thought he was going on loan and wanted to come back in a year to fight for his place? At least everything I'd read indicates that...

Well the news says its a loan with a deal to sign, so it means he is 99% gone, unless he also fails to impress at Roma, which is the only reason they wouldnt want to keep him permanently, and then, why would we?

The writing is pretty much on the wall, Cech is the number 1 for the next 5 years at least, we have a number 2 in Ospina, and we have a youngster already in the ranks in Martinez, can't really see a place back for Shezny if he goes out for a year, his chances were already slim before leaving, but now that he's gone....

Chezza is an abysmal keeper. Capable of a top quality save, certainly, but generally a complete head basket, butterfingers and absolute shambles. Arsenal should dump him really, he's a walking red card!
