If Phillips does leave, to West Brom or elsewhere, who will take the right midfield berth? Mackie can do it, as I think can JET, but we've no specialised cover for the position as far as I can see, and I've not seen us linked with anyone either.
Phillips is more than happy. He jokes about much of the speculation which is generally news to him. Happy to stay but equally as a professional if the right club and offer come in he will go. He is not however actively seeking it so if we don't want to sell we can keep him. Hope it stays that way because he could be terrific for us next year.
I agree, I think Phillips suffers from 'Imposter Syndrome' which is basically the opposite of the 'Dunning/Kruger Effect.' I think that he thinks that the Championship is his true level and for him to return to the Prem that it will have to be accomplished with us for him to feel that he truly deserves to be at that level.
I also think if we are offered 10 million for a player that had half a good season I would snap your hand off......because he is not worth that. All our players are acting as complete professionals over the transfers....and for that I am glad, but it does raise hope that they may stay.....sad isn't it
Very refreshing that players who are in the mix to maybe vacate are equally interested in staying. That and that alone must equate to the team having a real interest in each other and the club. Something we fans haven't been used to for a while. Whether CR is a good coach is yet to be confirmed but he does seems to have the manager side of things sorted. Truth is, Harry never had the team this chummy and keen. Everyone always had a long face.
