Nothing was going on with Redknapp?! There's delusion and then there's Piskie Delusion. He made an obvious move for the England job, then completely contradicted everything he'd said when it fell through. He then went on to make a bunch of public statements about a contract and brought in Rooney's agent to play hardball. Levy's mother was dying at the time, so he didn't appreciate it, especially after the way he'd treated Redknapp throughout his court case. Redknapp was very good for us, but he massively ****ed up towards the end of his tenure, both on and off the field. He overplayed his hand, pushed his luck and was shown the door. Now, can we stop this being another Piskie Talks Tottenham thread, please? It's ****ing embarrassing.
No I don't. It's completely congruent with this thread. You're starting to embarrass yourself a little bit bleating about it now though.
No, you're whinging about Spurs, as you do in every single thread, regardless of what it's supposed to be about. Someone could start an article about the evolution of the the Aston Villa club badge and you'd talk about Spurs. It's mental.
The only one whinging here is you. I was asked whether I thought Arsenal would finish above Spurs for the foreseeable future, so I replied. Part of my answer was to question Levy's man management and hiring and firings, completely congruent with this thread. You've just have a little hissy fit because I've mentioned Spurs, get over it
Nope, you did your usual. HIAG made a comment and you jumped at his command. The comments are all still there. No idea why you'd lie about it. Looks rather silly.
It's about the Premier League, though. Why do you care? For the record, I think that the pressure's all on Rodgers at the moment, but he's in a position to turn it round. The Watford coach is in a horrible one and nobody has any idea whether he'll even get a chance to prove himself. We've all seen how trigger happy the chairmen and owners have become, so virtually nobody's safe.
I've been impressed with their signings. The owners are erratic for sure but I think this guy is very much their man and that they could surprise a few people this season.
They had four managers last season, though and they finished second. They're starting the season with yet another one. Five managers in a year is a hell of a lot. Flores doesn't spend too long anywhere and he's completely unfamiliar with the league. No idea if his English is any good.
Watford have signed They've made some solid signings, so that suggests the manager has something about it. It remains to be seen how they all play together and how he organises them, but I would have thought that the pressure will be fairly low on Watford. Stay in the prem has got to be their first target.
Yes, exactly. The first target for any club newly promoted to the Prem, is not going straight back where you came from. If you can achieve that, then you can look to establish yourself.
Avoiding relegation is a very sensible target for Watford. Ensuring promotion was too, but they still ended up going through 4 managers to do it. Flores could do relatively well and still get the boot.
Try not to have a hissy fit about it this time but that was the point I was making about Spurs; that their managers do relatively well and still end up getting the boot. Personally I think Chairmen need to have more patience and give their managers time to establish themselves and their philosophies, instead of hiring and firing and creating a culture of insecurity.
You don't have a point about Spurs, only a wum. Your point is only a "point" if one believes that Levy sacks managers for getting 5th spot (it being a case - so you consistently claim - that Levy must be "deluded"). It is more likely, and certainly more reasonable to assume, that the likes of Jol, Redknapp, and AVB got the sack because there was a major rift between, on the one hand, the manager, and, on the other, the board and/or squad.
Watford and Bournemouth played attacking football and conceded goals expecting that, in most games at least, they would outscore the opposition. Do that in the PL and they're doomed from the start. It's a nice idea that they can continue as they have, but it would be naive to do so. PL teams are stronger in all departments and most would relish the chance to play an open game with plenty of the ball and loads of space to play in. Can't see either surviving to be honest, but Howe's job won't be at risk regardless of how they play. Watford, however, look likely to panic before Xmas.
