I think various things can be implied or inferred form a sound bite, it doesn't make it a lie. I doubt they want us to drop down the leagues, if for no other reason than to protect their investment. Ambition can be long term too. All of which is by the by and the op has specifically asked it not to degenerate to the usual topic and dis us the manager.
As SB has basically given the Allams an ultimatum, I think it's unreasonable to expect people to not discuss them in this thread. And i for one find it impossible to say anything to do with them without using the word '****s'.

That's unrealistic. Allardyce would not go to a club if a lack of ambition on the part of the chairman was the reason for the vacancy.
