........is currently undergoing a medical at West Ham.

That's quite some squad they're going to have, even with the imminent outgoings.

I thought even with their new owners that relegation was a financial nightmare for them? They risking it all on going straight back up? Certainly seems like it.

I read somewhere that they had borrowed £30m odd to finance themselves this season, just adding to the debt.

Yep. It could all go very horribly wrong for the Brady bunch this season. My fingers crossed that it does. Bad owners.

    2010 → Tottenham Hotspur (loan) 11 (2)
    2010–2011 Stoke City 4 (0)

2 goals in 34 latest games, that's like Altidore's stats......

The major factor with why i think West Ham will win promotion is Sam Allardyce. Utmost confidence in him unfortunately. He will set them up so well to not get beaten plus he has Nolan to score 15 goals from midfield. Nailed on cetainties for promotion.

He barely got any game time at Stoke or Fulham, almost all his appearances were as a sub.

Big Sam's team should tear this league apart with the squad they have, but the owners really are banking on promotion this season.

If Gujohnsen gets some game time he will undoubtedly be a success, he hasn't played for Chelsea and Barca because he's crap - great replacement for Carlton Cole (who they're selling for £7m) on a free transfer

I agree, when he was appointed i felt that pretty much garaunteed West Ham's promotion. They've got themselves the right manager to get out of this league. The main worry for West Ham would be injuries/suspensions and the fact that along with Leicester and perhaps Birmingham they will be the team that everyone will want to beat, so wil have to deal with that and how more physical sides will try and play against them. I don't think anyone is immune to the openess of this division and there could well be a few upsets this season, but i expect West Ham to be at least in the top 2 given their signings and manager. I expect Forest to do better this year too, Mclaren got his fingers burnt with the England job but he's a good club manager and could do well there. Boro will be challenging strongly and the likes of Reading, Bristol City and Southampton will be up there too. There's plenty of teams who are capable of challenging for those top 2 places, West Ham should be ok but even though they've spent a fair bit of money i don't think Leicester are as certain of a top 2 spot as the Hammers.

Are they being brave and honourable or wreckless and foolhardy?

If the reports are to be believed they're in deep financial ****. So, depending who it's owed to, I guess the options are go bust and clear the debt or gamble big on going up and hope to stay there long enough to pay the debt. But surely there's an issue with diminishing returns in the gamble with the spend possibly being greater than the reward?
