Its actually difficult to believe a guy with his talent can play so badly with wind conditions like they where today, he should really be tearing the course up like everyone else did. I do wonder if he'll ever have the nerve to win one of the big ones.
I actually feel for the guy tbh. I backed him when Clarke won it few years back, I've never made the same mistake again. His record in majors is this.... Rounds 1&2 = -31 Rounds 3&4 = +3 No words.... Lol
Ol Dustin's 4 from 30 yards on the last reminded me of me! His 350 yard bash off the tee was not something I'm remotely familiar with though. At first look it would appear that Speith is in prime position and I wouldn't begrudge him either, seems a fine player and chap. However the weather forecast I've looked at is for the wind to get up later on in the afternoon. Not horrendous winds but around 20 mph. Someone could just shoot a low number from mid pack and walk of with the Claret Jug.
So many dangers in this packing field. I have to agree with Chan that someone around -6 or -7 could shoot the lights out and set a tournament winning total. I hope not as Spieth was my only bet.
Well they reckon the weather will get gradually worse as the day goes on, which will suit anyone who's coming from along way back. And add to that the pressure that the leaders are under, then I wouldn't be suprised to see someone come from off the pace and set a good club house score. They do usually fall short, but every now and then like Paul Lawrie in 99 coming from 10 back, it does happen. St Andrews isn't the type of course where someone could come from that far back, but id agree the guys on -6 could have a squeak tomorrow if they can get on a run. There are quite a few around that number, so chances are atleast one of them will
I'm still in with a shout with Sergio & Oosty but there are good few still in with a chance.Half day from work beckons!
I have Rose - 25/1 Fowler ew - 18/1 Spieth - 11/4 Fowler is my biggest winner, followed by Spieth, Rose would limit damage if he were to win
They reckon the winds could get up to 25mph this afternoon- could mean that the earlier starters gain an advantage so you may see someone set a clubhouse score that everyone has to aim at. That would really make it pressure golf. Hope it's a gripping day of golf regardless!
Not really too sure the wind will make too much of a difference- most players have been battling the winds for all days bar yesterday and coped reasonably well. Someone shooting a 65 or 66 from the pack at -6, -7 is relying on the leaders to not post even make -3 which, if it was one player, would be do-able, but ith so many i think is just asking too much. I think its Speith's to lose IMO
I've a couple of small e/w chances still alive in Schwartzel @80s and Goosen @ 50s (in running after his 1st round) but would agree with Talal El that it looks like Speith's to loose
it's no wonder that the BBC lose out to sky so often with big sporting events. What is the point of BBC4 and the red button if they are unable to re-schedule. They have known since early on Saturday morning that we would be going into a 5th day. f****ing useless!
I agree the whole coverage is sub standard to be honest, and it does the Open Championship no favours when the other 3 majors get far better coverage and a lot more analysis before and after each round. The pundits and commentators on the BBC are the deadwood left that can't get a regular job with Sky. Lets hope that Sky do eventually manage to get the license for it, surely it's only a matter of time though
