Hull City's Jake Livermore left alone to 'seek help' for problems JAKE Livermore has spent the summer "trying to seek help" following his suspension for a failed drugs test, according to Hull City manager Steve Bruce. Livermore has been absent from the City fold since it emerged traces of cocaine were found in a random drugs test staged after a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace on April 26. The 25-year-old is still waiting to learn his punishment from the Football Association but could face up to a two-year ban. "I've let him go off for the summer. "It's obviously a difficult time for the club but more importantly for Jake as a man. "He's obviously had a few problems and I think he's spent the summer trying to seek help. That can only be a good thing." Although the FA last week dished out punishments for two professional footballers who failed drugs test in the Spring, Livermore continues to wait on a hearing for his case, with no timeframe set. Sheffield United forward Jose Baxter was handed a five-month ban, three of them suspended, while Wolves goalkeeper Aaron McCarey was given a suspended four-month ban backdated to his original suspension on April 21. Both players are now free to resume their careers when the new season kicks-off. Livermore faces the threat of a longer ban having failed a test post-match but City remain in the dark over when his fate will be known. "You're asking the wrong people," added Bruce. "It's in the hands of the FA now. "There's things going on but we actually haven't been given the date for when the hearing will be. If that's accurate reporting it sounds like he's been cut adrift. Regardless of what he's done I'm not sure it's the right way to treat a £7m asset.
