i am currently pleased with the business Dick and Congerton have done so far, although there are a couple of obvious positions he has to address before the window closes. Additionally, we need to offload the identified last level players. But, wtf would you be feeling at the mo as a Villa supporter Vlaar - out for 4-5 months Benteke - going Delph - gone Arrivals of Gueye and Amavi???? I would be a tad concerned that two of the players who were the difference are gone and that no obvious replacement has arrived. I would rather be us than them at there mo
Vlaar is still currently unattached so isn't even their player. Agree Villa are looking dodgy at this stage I agree. The promoted sides are obviously going to struggle. Leicester, West Brom and the Mags also look dodgy at this stage. By getting a lot of businesses done early we're looking a lot stronger, plenty of window time to go though, few domino effects could see the transfer window really take off for some of these clubs. I praying it doesn't happen though and they miss their target and forced to invest poorly or not at all.
Bournemouth have bought well and I think they look the best out of the promoted clubs, so far. I agree Villa are looking shaky again and don't expect Sherwood to last the season. Norwich and Watford could struggle badly this season. Ranieri will be a disaster.
Much as it's too early to judge our business I think it's too early to judge anyone else's business. If that 40m from Delph and Benteke is reinvested they could actually strengthen.
Fair point...but a bit like us - who on earth of quality would want to go to Villa? At least we haven't had our best players leave...probs cos we had no best players mind but it doesn't put us in the spotlight as a club facing an exodus of their remaining quality
They've lost the entire spine of the team (Vlar, Delph, Cleverley and Benteke), it's going to be very difficult to replace them all with somewhere near the quality that they have lost, I expect them to be very active in the transfer market over the next few weeks but I'm not sure Sherwood is good enough to rebuild this team.
I give you exhibit one m'lud... http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/sport/sport-headlines/andy-carroll-listed-on-ebay-201201304828 They might have learned since then, but then again they might not
Amavi is absolutely superb by the way, by far the best defender in Ligue 1 last season, possibly player of the year in the entire league. They have a bag full of cash now, if they get A few decent players in (let's not pretend Cleverley was any good at all) then they could be a decent unit, their owner seems a total plonker though so yeah, I'd be worried too.
They spent 18m on two unproven prem players so that's abit dodge and we just have to wait and see who they bring in.
Aye but I remember when Newcastle signed the best defender in France LOL his name has left me but plays for Roma now.
Lerner is trying to sell Villa so I can't see him reinvesting much of the delph/benteke cash, why would he ? Also the general instability caused by the club being up for sale, who the new owners would want as manager etc., all looks like a recipe for a relegation struggle.
Mate anybody would turn to **** under Alan Pardew. He was class in France he had no aerial ability though which is a disaster in this league.
To be fair he's playing for Roma now as well, he's just not suited to this league. Amavi could flop I'll concede that but can only go off what I've seen on him up to now.
