I think he will sign before the season kicks off, like Ronaldo he will do it so we can ask top money for him. If somebody really wants him they will pay it.
If De Gea's head has already been turned then is he worth keeping? If things are lined up for him to go to Madrid next year, who's to say he'll be as committed and perform to such high standards etc? I think if you can get £20m for him, sell and get a replacement in. Thing is, you've missed out on Cech and Begovic who would have been great replacements for him. Who else is out there to replace him now Valdes has although thrown his toys out the pram. If he perform as well as he did last year, you get top 4 and win a cup then keeping him will be justified, might even get him to sign an extension if you're lucky... but keep him, he has an average year, you come 5th and he leaves on a free. It will look a very bad decision.
Do you think he seems like a player who would throw a hissy fit if he wanted the move but ddidnt get it? He's always been professional and condicts himself pretty bloody decently tbf. There's not even been a sniff in the papers about him being difficult or throwing a wobbly.
No, I don't think he would throw a hissy fit... but it's a psychological thing. If he really does want to move then could he put 100% effort in? Different players perform differently. Suarez wanted to move, but he got his head down and had the season of his life. Sterling wanted to move and did **** all for 6 months before he moved. You never know how speculation could affect someones performances.
It's the easiest/laziest story ever written. The best Spanish goalkeeper in the world (must) want to go to Real Madrid. Yes he was born and raised in Madrid, but he played all his football for Atletico, players from Spain (and especially Madrid) very rarely play for both clubs. The fact that he seems very happy at United and has never once said he wants to leave (in fact in his most recent interview he said he is looking forward to helping the team even more next season) escapes the notice of our journo's I think they all have Astrovision
The other side of the coin is that Real Madrid have not put in any official offer for De Gea. Depending on which way you look at it, you could see it support either of your arguments. Have to say I'm in the IDK camp about whether he wants to move. But I do believe we're right to keep him if all they're going to offer is £13m
Suarez post Arsenal hissy fit (note there has been no hissy fit by De Gea). You're gradually evolving into a mini-Astro. Even I can't fix that.
Just read this somewhere else... Keylor Navas to wear #1 shirt at Real Madrid, Kiko Casilla to wear #13
There is still of lot of behind the scene manoeuvrings to work out until the close of the window. Real do all their work through their agents and their newspapers. They slip in the £13m and drop hints here and there. Naturally they want to get DG as cheap as possible. The £13m was to indicate that they wont offer the high price United was wanting. I suspect that in the end United will do a deal at about £20m. If DG does the same as he did last season (no guarantee of that) then even at £20m he is worth keeping.
