It's not ideal for people who have bought tickets but it's the risk you take holding an outdoor event in Scotland, it's not exactly a country well known for its favourable weather!
I think it's harsh to criticise them for sending them out this morning, as the wind picked up 20% from the time they where sent out to the time they where called in. The R & A couldn't have predicted that. I think the reason they probably delayed sending them out again this afternoon is because of player power, they didn't want to risk upsetting the likes of Spieth and co again after they criticised the R & A this morning. But they should have just sent them out, rather than waiting for even easier conditions, but they didn't have the guts. And also moaning about the leaders dropping some shots, the likes of Spieth and Johnson enjoyed by far the best of the weather on day 1, so as they say these things even themselves out. Dustin Johnson didn't even complain about it, as he accepts that the weather is part of what makes the Open Championship the great tournament it is. If your weak minded and let abit of rain and wind get you down, then you won't stand a chance
Just taken 120s about Ricky Fowler in running. -3 after 8 today, -4 overall. A strong back 9 and a steady round by Johnson could see him within 3 or 4 of the lead going into the final round, and he can finish strong as we saw last week.
I backed Fowler at the start Toppy, but I think the leaders would have to encounter some bad weather conditions for him to have a chance of winning. I haven't given up hope on landing the place money though, he's -6 now so moving in the right direction. I watched a lot of his rounds the first 2 days, and it was a case of what might have been, he barely missed a fairway or a green but didn't hole anything on the greens. So he is playing well, he just needs the putter to stay hot, like it has been so far today
Garcia and Spieth just heading out, I'd expect them to make a lot of birdies today. Be great to follow those two around and watch them hit it. Spieth could throw in a special round today with green conditions.
Harrington shot himself right into contention. Long way to go but my cash out has gone from 22p to £4.72 ha ha!
The course is a joke though, The Open shouldn't be a birdie fest. Grow the grass longer and shorten the fairways. It's supposed to be the toughest test in Golf, and it clearly isn't this week
Spectacular bottling by Dustin Johnston! It's a Sunday I guess. Hopefully Oosty or Day can bring it home tomorrow.
Just need Fowler to shoot a 61 or a 62 and then hope Schwartzel shot 7 birdies today but some bad ones stopped him fighting for the lead. At 4 and 5 shots back, I think my two big hopes might have given themselves too much to do.
