De Gea was the best goalkeeper last season. Then Curtois, Lloris and Forster in no particular order. There's not much evidence that Curtois and Lloris did any better than Forster, but they have a better reputation so Forster clearly can't be as good as them.
Maybe it depends where you watch the game from. But from just behind the goal I can assure you Forster was not without his weaknesses last season. He might be one of the best shot stoppers in the game but he certainly made more positional errors than SKD ever did.
Nowhere near the best keeper for me, great shot stopper, but his decision making and inability to come for crosses has me semi nervous whenever the balls in our half. For a big fella he needs to dominate the box [a-la-Shilton]. As said many times on this site, by various posters with Toby, Clyne and Foster missing our defence will look very different this season.
That went down well ok fine you lot win, but he is in that tier, and *arguably* did more for us than any of those did for their teams, and in his first season above SPL level. Like NI Saint said, it all went downhill after Burnley H, but really I would flip it and say that without Forster in goal we would have never been in the Euro-race in the first place. That's the difference between a good GK (like Boruc and Stek) and a really good one (like Forster). Fran - at times like this it's best to just let me crash and burn.
Not the best keeper in the league, but I like the sentiment. To think some fans in here were slagging him off last season.... and they really were. They just couldn't see how good and influential he is.
Saints to sinners as fighting breaks out at Saints Training Camp The stress of ANOTHER summer Exodus leads to a Meltdown during Saints training camp in Holland. Southampton Captain Jose Fonte and soon to be Liverpool midfielder Victor Wanyama square up after a heated argument believed to be about the tune of Liverpool's Anthem 'You'll never walk alone'.
I still don't see what makes him so special. I really don't. I think behind our midfield/defence half the Prem keepers would have done as well as Forster. Before everyone goes crazy, i do still think he's a bloody good keeper, just not that good.
Ron and Erwin win our first trophy of the season..a lifesize plastic cow given to them in Groningen. http://translate.google.com.au/tran...en-op-stage-met-Southampton.dhtml&prev=search
They'll milk that award for all they can, even though it's a bit cheesy. Cud they have done butter? Vin
