We will always have banter between fans as it would not be normal without it......But when you analyze your own teams especially the long standing Premiership/Div 1 over a long time then you can see some big teams from yesteryear who would achieve something on a regular basis, Teams who in my view have lost the will to win and badly managed, for instance teams who just make up the numbers today that you know will under perform..

Newcastle....A massive club who has under achieved for far to long and should be able to challenge the top spot.
Liverpool.....another club that has lost the will to win and rely too much on individuals like ex player Suarez, Gerrard etc and have become an also ran..
Sunderland...Again a massive club who should be doing far better than they are every season.
spurs.....A big club who are stuck in a time warp, They should be challenging and they do but for some reason they are not consistent and they go up one and back two.
Everton...A great club but never look like the Everton i remember and seam quite happy now to remain middle table...

Also the great sides who have fallen from grace and have lost there greatness,,
Leeds....They are an example of what can happen when you have bad owners...
Both once great clubs Sheffield utd and owls. What has happened to them to fall so low is a mystery to me.
And then you have the other big sides like boro,Coventry, west ham who should be doing better...
The team that is trying to get back the greatness of yesteryear for me is the saints who had lost their way for a number of years but have got their act together and are now fighting back with a well run club...
Now i should mention my own club who i wont consider a club who has been in the top flight as long as all the clubs i have mentioned and has a long way to go before we could be classed in the same category as those who have been at the top for years but what i will say is we were 20 minutes away from losing league status and we were at rock bottom but look at us now and that is because we got our fighting spirit back and we never spent beyond our means to buy promotion..

My point is when you see the top 4 splashing out obscene amounts of money buying up all the best players dont despair and think they have the title sown up between them because you would be wrong. We done the double over man utd and Arsenal last season so with a bit of belief and confidence more teams should be challenging for the title and that could be anyone of us......

  2. We made Arsenal and Chelsea look foolish, last season. They both got Kaned.

    That's a very fair post.

Swansea, Norwich and Southampton have done fantastic in all honesty. Also Stoke who came from nowhere and who have consolidated into a very respectable established premier league club. It sends hope out to every club in League 1 and 2 that it possible with the right management and bit of luck going your way that becoming a top club is a genuine target. <ok>

Yes then so called lesser clubs made spurs look foolish.....It's what i mean when i say that spurs take a giant step in challenging and then take two steps back ruining the positive work beating the top teams. consistency is spurs problem...

  5. Spurs is very much still a work in progress. It's hardly surprising that we've lack the consistency of those sides that have had the luxury of being able to keep hold of their best players. That said, we showed signs of genius under Poch, and with a sturdier defence, we'll be a worthy challenger for a top 4 spot.

    Are you ****ting me <laugh>

This 'very much still a work in progress' has been going on for the last 30 years! When exactly is it due to be completed?

  7. Not "****ting" you, at all.

Look at the players we've lost. Look at the managers we've got through. Look at the long struggle we had to get planning through for our new stadium.

None of that is conducive to building a stable club, and certainly not one that ought to have any reasonable chance of sustaining a top 4 challenge every season.

So, yes, we are still a work in progress. Think what we can achieve when we achieve stability with a new 62k-seater stadium!

Hate is an emotion and to really hate something I suppose they have to matter to me or affect me in some way.
On that basis I don't really 'hate' a PL team as I'm only bothered about mine to be fair.
I take the piss out of a few teams quite openly but that sits in the category of Banter.
The nearest I've ever come to 'hating' a team is Villa, who for one season a bit back really pissed me off on and off the pitch and it kind of ramped up to a 'mild dislike' level.
I've heard fans of teams say that all they care about is their team finishing above 'x' or taking 6 points off 'y' team but personally all I care about is a team that plays at least half decent football and tries. The season is a long one so I prefer to look at the long game. As a long suffering Toon fan I have to.
I'll take the piss along with the next bloke out of teams but like I say.. that's for personal sport more than anything.

To be fair the Spurs players have been operating at a disadvantage. Every time they go out on the pitch they are incapable of focussing 100% on their game as they're constantly carrying the burden and worry of whether planning permission will be approved for a new stadium.

  11. The players don't care about that, Schteeve. However, the fact will be that when we have our new stadium we'll carry greater financial muscle, and we'll be able to, not only attract the better players to the club, but keep them, too.

Consistency is the only thing we've lacked in all the time that I've been watching Spurs play, and I see a day coming when we'll be able to attain it.

Exactly! We are consistently inconsistent. Thrash Chelsea one week, lose at home to WBA the next!....it's long been our problem.

Probably not relevant to the thread but I had a bet with Spurs fan at even money that Kane wouldn't get 20 league goals.

    What do you think?

I don't think he'll get 20 league goals at Spurs.
