All our young players who returned from the various international competitions were called into a meeting with Kenny, Commoli and Ayre at Melwood a few days back. Matty Regan was a bit down. He'd played two games for the under 17s but was omitted from the game against Germany which we lost on penalties, so he was a bit down. Kenny addressed all the lads and said that the club was proud of them and that they should be proud of themselves. He told them to have a good three weeks off and then return for training at Melwood. As they were getting up to leave, Kenny called a couple of the lads, including Matty and asked them to stay behind. He said to Matty that he was delighted he'd brought him to Liverpool from Wrexham. He then said that when he came back, he'd like him to sign professional forms and to bring his Mum and Dad along as well. Matty wasn't down anymore after that! Congratulations to Matty. I know his Dad and guess what? His dad's about as blue as they come - Jamie Carragher anyone! Good luck lad.
That won't happen to me. Both my kids are girlies and neither like football. On the bright side, my eldest has just dumped her manc boyfriend and my 16 byear old is now going out with a big Red - very knowledgable as well. I met him for the first time last Saturday and my daughted couldn't get a word in!
I have high hopes for my son. he could kick a ball before he could walk and now at 19 months he can make a decent short pass. he is obsessed with Liverpool and whenever he sees a red top he shouts "LIVERPOOL!!!" at the top of his lungs. my other half has said she doesn't want me investing all of my time in him at the expense of our other children but i'll be doing what I can to help him
My daughter has only ever been interested in football when she's between boyfriends. She's mid twenties now so I've given up on her being the next big thing in women's football. At least when she is interested it's in LFC and she hasn't gone over to the darkside. I was born into a family of blues and my dad could never understand where he went wrong. I told him it was supporting Everton in the first place but that just resulted in me having to stand in the enog 'til he went to sleep and me mum let me in.
ah, I'm a red ,my dads a red, my grandad's a red, 2 of my step brothers are reds. my two half brothers were gooners (both are dead) and my full brother is a Chelsea fan (after being a manc for years he decided to become a Chelsea fan) so my famil;y are a bit of a mixed bag. All my mates were manc fans except one who is a die hard colchester utd fan
Bozz. Fingers crosse your lad makes the grade! The other thing I forgot to mention about my youngest daughter's boyfriend. I asked hi why he supported Liverpool as he's from Warrington (I was born in the 'Pool and my parents moved when I was 15). He said the history and the spirit of the club and (wait for it) my Dad's a united supporter! What a lad!
A step in the right direction, I suppose. (joke, btw, for any mancs hovering) Seriously, I've never understood how anyone can change their allegiance. I can understand a second team if you move, say ,and go to watch a local one but to go from supposedly your childhood team to a rival one.... I can't get my head round that.
My brother is a bit of a weird one. He loves football and is passionate for the sport but he was never really passionate about man utd, he just supported them. While I went crazy for Liverpool buying all the shirts and having posters of Robbie Fowler up on my wall he just said didn't (although he had a man utd bed set). then one day out of the blue he said he was going with some mates to stamford bridge to catch a chelsea game and then after that he was hooked. He threw out all of his man utd merchandise and now goes to Chelsea virtually every week. he says it's because it's easier for him to get to stamford bridge then old trafford (he went to OT 3 times as he went to Chelsea 3 times within the follow 3 months after going to SB for the first time) and he seems a lot more in to chelsea
