I'm not so sure that Matthews is going to be our first choice right back when the season starts.... I also think O'Shea will be in our starting XI with one of either Kaboul or Coates.
I think we might sign another centre half too or try Rodwell there. Kaboul came in too quick for me as a backup to Lombarts, I think we were going to sign both of them which makes me think were still in the market for a centre half. If we get Dembelle in and get someone like januzaj on loan I would be very happy. I would like the following: ........................Pants.................... Mathews..Kaboul..Evans....PVA ..............Catts.....Dembelle......... Januzaj..........Giacc.............Lens .......................Defoe................... The above would be a very decent side with plenty of competition for places from the likes of Larsson, Gomez, Coates, Wickham, Rodwell, AJ, Jones who are all potential first 11 players when on their game. There are goals in the above team, we know Catts wont make it through a whole season so Seb will probably play a lot anyway. Giacc is also injury prone but if he get a full pre season he will be like a new signing.
Hakan Calhanoglu... Basically a very unrealistic, 5-levels up signing... Guy is very highly rated in Europe, 21 or so, attacking midfielder who takes a mean free kick. Think Beckham in his prime against Greece kinda stuff. IF this signing comes off, Congers will have 42k fans ready to polish his knob on a weekly basis.
Pie in the sky kinda stuff, if this signing comes off (if we're even interested) it would be unbelievable even seeing him with the red and white stripes on, holding a scarf over his head at the AoL. BUT this story came about from the Metro as clickbait, on which the Express has printed a puff piece linking back to the Metro, and well, nothing the Metro says is to be taken seriously. So probably a load of ****e, as this kid is waaaaaay above us. He'd be going to a top 4 side.
