As keen horticulturist I can't echo your concerns enough, this is a massive problem. I urge everyone to at least get some pots or containers going. Go for single flowers(one layer of petals), tubular flowers like foxgloves or snapdragon and purple flowers as this is the most vivid colour a bee can see.

It's quite simple, if Bees and Butterflies don't pollinate then plants don't re-seed, if plants don't re-seed eventually they will dye out, if plants die out there's no photosynthesis, without that we die out.

 

I was thinking of getting a hive

If a nuclear armageddon would transpire that destroyed the world it would be an extinction event that we personally controlled & caused. This is why we do our best to denuclearise as many nations as possible, Iran can push a button which destroys Israel who in turn would destroy Iran right back. The video you shown regarding the bee's appears to indicate that the bee's dying is another possible extinction event that we can control but choose not too.
If an astroid hurtled towards the earth and smashed us into tiny pieces, that is an extinction event that we had no part in. It was completely out of our control.

We can control if we push a button that destroys Iran. We can't control if a space rock lands on your car.

Good on you if you do fella. if you keep bees and with me growing flowers we'll be doing our part. But Gardners and Bee Keepers have never been so important to our survival.
