Yeah he'd get past Aldi-vera-weld, Vertonghen, Dier, Wimmer and Fazio. You're right, we are lacking a central defender that got embarrassed by Milton Keynes Dons.
This home based rule - how many do u need to have and do u have to actually play them or just include in squad. Coz if only in squad then City can buy any old **** and just bench them! Actually isn't that what City do already
The figs are as SD says, so you can only have a max of 17 non-hg players in the team with the rest made up of hg and u21 players. Realistically you need the hg players to at least be good enough for the bench or ur wasting a squad spot and decreasing your squad size.
Just watched our game against Everton. Please can we buy a striker. Giroud was once again woeful. He's sporadically good but below average the rest of the time. Carzola was man of the match with Özil a close second. We without a doubt have a top five midfield in Europe but we still lack a potent out and out striker.
From all the players on that pitch how can you pick one man as woeful? It was a pre-season friendly with absolutely nothing to judge, the players were walking around in the heat and there is no way you should be singling Giroud out.
Mirror and Star reporting that we might make a bid for Edin Dzeko. 3-4 years ago I would have jumped at the chance, but he's 30 next year and only scored 6 in 31 apps last season. Also City would demand a big transfer if they sold to us. Steer clear I reckon.
Apparently monreal has said he is happy at Arsenal and enjoyed getting so much game time last season. Doesn't look like he is on his way back to Spain just yet. I'm pleased as between him and Gibbs we have the LB spot covered well and the option to play both and close down the left side of the pitch.
Gourcuff, he's like the ghost of Christmas past. He was an Arsenal legend that never got to wear the jersey...
I don't understand comments like this, or the one [from another poster] slagging off Giroud after one pre-season friendly. Dzeko scored only 6 goals in 31 games, being fit for the majority of the season last year. After getting fit, Giroud went on a run that gave him one of the best goals to games ratios in the Prem, scoring 19 goals in 36 games after an end of season slump in form. Our attack and creativity improved when Giroud came back into the team, and we had a focal point to our attacks, and an anchor for the attacking midfielders/wide players to run off. He was on of our best players since Jan last season. But people seem to just love slagging off Giroud, but whenever he's out of the team for a significant period of time we miss him. Dzeko used to be good, but now he's just average.
