Empire is the best of the bunch because it is the darkest. The Cloud City surprise is just brilliant. I love Jedi as well though. It gets bad press as it is considered the weakest of the original three, but I don't see it that way.

This. Watch 4-6 first cos they are amazing. Then watch 1-3 cos they are not, but they do flesh out the history of 4-6. I would love to know why Lucas decided to do the text stuff in intro in episode 4 etc with his first movie. There is no way he could have known he would be allowed to make another 5 of them so why he decided to start with episode 4 is beyond me.. but i guess it adds to the geekness of the genre.. Still love em though!!!

Episode 1 = Total **** save The Maul

Episode 2 = Mostly ****, Lee was great, enjoyed the final battle on Geonosis

Episode 3 = Last half I really enjoyed. The decimation of the Jedi was well done and enjoyed the final duels. The Emperor was very perverted however and I felt he may have violently sodomised young Anakin to further his journey to the darkside of the force

jesus christ please tell me youre trolling. im surprised BRS has threatened to murder you

Personally id ignore the star wars prequels , they are mostly garbage and could prove to take the luster off the the OT. tHERE ARE PARTS OF REVENGE OF THE SITH i LIKE, caps lock, but not enough to ever watch it over one of the OT.

wheres the quote option in the toolbar gone?

amazing film mate, borderline horror imo. Actually watched it last night, i work with a guy who has a 50 inch led or whatever but has never watched a blu ray on it, so i dug a few out and another lad brought him in a blu ray player, hes gonna report back tomorrow. But yeah the whole opening sequence I find extremely unsettling and that film in general just really messes with me.

I highly recommend the JAWS blu ray

regarding the prequels, has anyone heard of the ring theory? (no jokes please)

I only heard about this recently and it in no way improves them imo, but its interesting none the less.

ah true , Lee was one of the best parts of the prequels, and I did enjoy the scene in 3 where palpatine finally takes anakin completely under his wing and hes all deformed and saying 'goooooooooooodddddddddd'....creepy scene

I was going to be insulting, but I'm not going to attack you - I'm going to help you. I'll just be serious and simply say - watch more. You're missing out on so much. So much stuff that wouldn't get made today, so much great acting, writing, directing, cinematography. What genre is really better now than it ever has been before? I can only think of two - superhero films and fantasy films (and I only really say this because of the Middle-earth films, and because 80s fantasy was so ****). The vast majority of modern stuff (with some exceptions) is total **** compared to the classics. The 70s in particular - what a decade.

I love Die Hard 2 of course but that can't be it - the first Die Hard for starters! It's crazy talk. Sort it out now. Even on Netflix they have some great older stuff.

I inhabit a few film/DVD forums and I saw one guy say that he couldn't stand anything made before 1977. I was repulsed enough at him. That's not an opinion. It's just irrational bollocks.

Back to the OP's question, definitely the
Original trilogy (episodes IV - VI) first for me. Otherwise the whole Vader/Luke storyline is lost as you already know about the relationship.

Then watch the prequels purely as a backdrop story.

Exactly. You got get the shock factor of finding out that Vader is Luke's long last dad. I'd say it's a bit like finding out that Kerry Catona is your mother.

I rate it as one of the best films ever its a slow burner at first but the climax is sensational
