Van Dijk seems the popular choice.

There's a whole thread extolling his various virtues! I think he'd make everyone relax a bit, for sure.

This years strategy of replacing the players shortly after or before they go makes a welcome change from lat years approach. Before the mass reruitment at the end of the year tensions were high. I often wonder what would have happened if Shneiderlin or Rodriguez were let go, that would really have been the final straw.

Certainly keeping Morgan benefitted us and the player himself. I hope others have taken note..

I doubt it unfortunately. Schneiderlin's terrific season has overshadowed his whining about being "trapped" or some other ****e. Clearly Nathaniel Clyne has not taken note, a real shame he has compromised his "CL dream" to double his wages at a side Saints on the pith are on a par with ATM.

I don't think last year's events were planned as such. More that the transfer policy was forced upon the club as a direct result of the previous Chairman leaving. If Les Reed had had a choice he would have planned a much less bumpy road 12 months ago. It's a credit to the whole Club that despite the leaving of Cortese, who obviously started the whole visionary ball rolling and therefore commanded much respect and belief from the players, that between them all, they not only survived but surpassed the previous season. Les Reed and his staff and Ronald, Erwin and their staff, have performed a bloody miracle. Just think what may lie ahead with this year's planned approach.

If we get close to them this season we'll be doing well. I think Lallana will step up and obviously they now have a decent right back. With Sterling gone they'll be a better team and, with Benteke up front, they could be a decent top 4 shout.

Other than the Van Dijk rumour (which looks a little tenuous at present) - what others potential names are out there? I know we keep these things pretty tight, but some of you seem to have little snippets now and then.

Rumours have dried up. Could do with nice big juicy one to get me through the cricket. Anyone? There doesn't have to be any truth whatsoever in it.

I understand Katherina is considering laying underground spikes that randomly thrust up through the earth at St Mary's, not unlike those used in the film Flash Gordon.

I'll be honest, I'm not sure if that will be a good idea. They clearly haven't given much thought to the players' wellbeing. Could potentially cause quite a nasty injury. They really need to take that into consideration.

Would aerate the soil though...the earthworms would be pleased. Might encourage moles though. Perhaps she should go back to the drawing board.

Wait a minute...moles specially trained to pop up and trip the opposition. Flawless.

But moles are nearly blind and might have trouble with kit recognition. Our players would have to have bells round their ankles. Solved.

I once found a dead mole. Those little buggers have absolutely massive hands/paws. If they were the size of people, their hands would be like car doors.

Would make useful goalkeepers. Except that they're blind, of course.

Well obviously you would have an owl standing beside the goal giving directions to the mole.
