I want to be excited, but I really can't muster the effort. Deep down I have a sinking feeling that this window is going to ultimately be a dissapiontment.

I guess I am all a bit Pavlov (fat mike)'s dog about transfers at this point.

Mbemba, young and full of potential...

From wiki so with a pinch of salt:

In 2012, Congolese club ES La Grace instructed a Brazilian sports lawyer Paulo Teixera to put forward a claim for training compensation to Anderlecht as the player was registered with the Congolese club in 2006. The player's registration from the time showed that the player was born on 8 August 1988, the player registered with a different date of birth 8 August 1994 with Anderlecht. The same date of birth was registered with FIFA for the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign. The player registered with a third date of birth (30 November 1991) for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualification campaign.[2]

Interesting view on Mitrovic and Mbemba from a Belgian football expert:

Belgian freelance journalist Philippe Vinck is certain there is a spark that can be ignited.
“He’s a special player,” he said. “He’s not your average striker and not your average guy. Around the box he’s very good, he’s very strong and of course he can finish as well, which explains his excellent goal record for Anderlecht last season.

“But he is not yet the finished article. You almost get the impression sometimes when you watch him that he is lazy on the pitch but if you study him closely, he is a very hard worker.”

Mitrovic’s reputation was earned by his reaction when Dennis Praet, an attacking, creative midfielder, was injured. “He was a star man but when he got injured, Mitrovic stepped up. He played really well in a 4-3-3 system but he needs players to cross the ball to him and really, he needs to play with a support striker. That’s when he’s at his best.”

At times last season, his contribution came under the microscope but to Vinck, injuries to key men and a switch in the system made it difficult for him.

What of his repuation as a hot head? One Belgian football expert rated him on par with Mario Balotelli in terms of the trouble he’d bring. “I think that was over-stated. People get the wrong impression – he’s a nice kid,” Vinck says.

“He would be a success in England but my one reservation is it might be coming a bit too early. Jose Mourinho has decided that he’s not quite ready for Chelsea yet, he maybe needs another year. With games at Newcastle he may be a big success, but it’s not a guarantee.”

It is defender Mbemba who is perhaps the better prospect for United, says Vinck.

“If Newcastle get him I believe it would be the signing of the summer. I think he’s better than Mitrovic – he’s quick, he’s strong and he has all the potential. I already think he’s the best defender in Belgium,” he says.

Mbemba, at £8million, is less than half what Chelsea may pay for John Stones. “He was fantastic against Arsenal and he would be terrific in the Premier League.”

Belgian media also think it's done:

"It seems that Aleksandar Mitrovic (20) has made his choice. The figures Newcastle offers and that we could get exclusive are staggering. No competitor that it can control. The Magpies want the arrival of striker now rapidly officialize Anderlecht and then goes to work... Mitrovic deal after Fellaini and Lukaku, one of the largest outbound transfers ever in Belgium. Anderlecht also won 5 percent on a subsequent resale at Newcastle."
