Sunderland A.F.C Vs Club de Fútbol Pachuca please log in to view this image Preview Sunderland continue their journey for match fitness with a very tough game against Mexican Side Club de Fútbol Pachucaat at Bonney Field. Defeat against US third tier side Sacramento Republic showed the quest for fitness to still be in it's early stages with tired legs clearly showing from those who completed the 90 minutes. Again fitness will be the emphasis as Dick looks to sharpen up the squad before departing for Canada. Team News Sunderland There have been no reports of injury so far from the Sunderland camp and it is still unclear if trio Adam Johnson, Sebastian Coates and Patrick van Aanholt have been able to join up with the squad. New signing Jeremain Lens and and Younes Kaboul are unable to obtain a visa in time for this game so will join up with their new team mates in Canada. Dick will be expected to rotate his squad for game time. Club de Fútbol Pachuca Last seasons top scorer Ariel Nahuelpán, who's 40 appearances in all compertitions yieled 19 goals, could prove a tricky customer for the Black Cats defence along with Erick Gutierrez who'll attempt to control the midfield areas. Players To Watch Duncan Watmore please log in to view this image Duncan looked lively when he came against Sacramento Republic and will be hoping for a bit more game time with new signing Jermain Lens set to join up with the squad and add extra competition in the next game against Toronto FC. Duncan will be well aware of the likelihood Adam Johnson will be unavailable in the early stages of next season at least, so will no doubt be determined to put himself in contention for playing time when the season commences. Connor Wickham please log in to view this image Like Watmore, Connor will be very aware of attacking competition entering our ranks. He'll be disappointed in his lack of impact in the previous game. This will be a defining season for Connor after a less than inspiring 14/15 season. The pressure is on for Wickham to perform consistently this season regardless of position and it's imperative he has a strong pre-season in order to push on. Our Opponents please log in to view this image Club de Fútbol Pachuca is one of the most successful teams in Mexican footballing history having won the Mexican Primera División 5 times and CONCACAF Champions' Cup 4 times. Established in 1901, they have 113 years of history behind them. In 1972 Pachuca saw sense by changing their original home kit colours from black and white stripes to blue and white stripes. Like Sunderland, Pachuca are in their pre-season having finishing last season 7th in the Liga MX.
I reckon young Watmore will be given a chance to show what he can do. Up to him to do it. It bodes well the kids are getting the opportunity imo. Even if it shows they`re not quite ready at least they`re getting a chance.
couple more down my gullet and aye why not!! Much like my pool skills my football ability is directly correlated to how much ive drank.
****... must have overslept and missed first half who played? Saw Rodders got our goal, defensive lapses cost us? Or have we been unlucky? Btw, this American telly man so cheesy!!! And that done racing presentation wtf man!!!
Well this has been a waste of time lol. Looks like a training match, feels like we've had about 10% possession...
Well saying it wasn't good is an understatement but with new signings in and match fitness returning hopefully we'll put a better showing in before too long. +'s Duncan Watmore not only looked lightening quick... He looked strong too. He's physically ready in my eyes. Danny Graham looked the fittest man on the pitch when he came on. Nothing Pickford could have done about the goals so his confidence shouldn't be knocked from them -'s We were dog ****. No one looked interested. A lot of walking around and then kicking the opposition when they'd skinned us. Catts and O'Shea the main candidates. Pickford's distribution looked suspect to me. Lot's of aimlessly swinging his boot. Hopefully just a confidence thing.
Useless really! Yes i understand we are months behind these lads in terms of fitness, we are missing players pva etc.... but dick pisses me off playing defoe in any position that isn't #9, its ****ing pointless!!! OK in pre season u mess around with formations a bit but the lad is 32 and proven to be one of the worlds premier poachers , he aint ****ing changing now is he?, why the **** is he playing on the left? Fletcher is not a footballer, DG ran more in 5 minutes then he did the whole ****ing game... IDK if its hot !! Run u ****er really glad i didnt go now
Yeah fastest man on the pitch easily, Catts looks like he has been in the pub since end of season TBF to pickford 90% of the time they were playing it to his right foot!
