On a rare visit to the forum I can't resist mentioning that I pointed out VVD before we even got Dejan. I was happy to sign him back then, so get him in, and we can forget all about Toby Lovren.

Congratulations on spotting the crap pun problem and re-directing this thread. You're right. It's OK for Pelle to "only score" 15 or so goals, provided midfielders and defenders chip in. A big hard CB who can get onto the end of free kicks would be the order of the day - those who know him, does Virgil meet this criterion?

Just checked and he's got 9 goals in the last two seasons. How much of that is down to poor defences in Scotland I don't know but it suggests there's potential.

Difficult to judge, since he has been playing for the best side in Scotland - not under so much pressure defensively, and plenty opportunities to venture forward. He`s not as aggressive as Fonte, I think. If we do sign him, we a back four named after other Thunderbirds - Alan, etc.

Within scoring distance, Commons or Mulgrew were usually the free kick takers.

Some talk about set pieces above. Jos' goals did really help in the Championship and we need someone to be doing that now. Koeman is a decent manager, but he really needs to start paying more attention to detail. As a team we would find it easier to score on set pieces If Wanyama was in the box for all of them too.

The amount of times Wanyama is outside the box on corners beggars belief. He would be an extra presence physical in there for the other side to deal with. the opposition would have less focus on players like Pelle and the two centre backs too and it would make slightly easier for them to get goals. The players need to take more responsibility themselves. Someone that's weaker in the air than Wanyama shouldn't be in the box and should be letting Wanyama be in there instead.

I can never get my head around how many teams use their prime striker to take corners, Rooney and Kane for example. How hard is it to train the smallest guys in the team how to take a corner? Get Claise training now . Big Vic would be a handful for any defender or get him infront of the keeper

We don't suffer from this problem. JWP does well enough. If other teams do the stupid thing that's there lookout and our advantage.

He is however our defensive wall in the middle of the park, so I can see both views.if the ball drops between their box and halfway line there is no other player I'd want there to win that tackle.
