Freddy was completely over-hyped in the USA and has never lived up to it. He's definitely got talent but has not been able to apply it. There are many, many better players that we would be better suited going after. He get's zero press coverage over here these days.
Don't panic Mr Mannering, it's all quiet on the western front cause they don't like it up em, P.S. Don't tell em your name P..e!
Achieving success in League One with the smallest squad in the division was a wonder to behold but now we face a completely different kettle of fish with our new challenge. Four weeks tomorrow we face the kick off on a supposed new dawn and with us now having an even smaller talent pool than after Wembley it must raise some concerns. Talking about new players is one thing but getting them to come to Ashton Gate appears to be a bridge too far in most cases. When you consider that our pre-season matches must be starting any day now it makes me wonder how can any new players have time to adjust to their new team's style of play in such a short time? Next week we must surely see some action from management - shouldn't we?
have to say Mike it has got to a stage where looking from the outside in,we are a long way from a squad ready for a tilt at top six. We are mentioned in transfer story's with good quality players, but we need action, not Chinese whispers.
The time for action is not close because it has already come, and possibly gone, without so much of any kind of whisper RedRobin. I see an alarming trend that it would appear we are not a destination of choice for the over-hyped greedy players that the sport has produced over the last years. At this time of our pre-season is it probable that we are now searching a talent pool that consists mainly of players who don't know their own minds or that nobody else wants? The biggest problem over here is finding the transfer information and so I rely on the 606ers for the relevant buzz. I know the world is experiencing a bee shortage but there also seems to be a lack of transfer buzz down in the West Country.
Personally don't think any under 21 are championship standard, nor do I think burns,Reid are championship standard. Me very concerned at present, but I hope Sc and co have it all under control
Well, it's now Friday, and the only activity we've seen is for two players for the developmental squad. Given the sheer lack of news, outside of some moves for free players, I'm starting to believe that we're not going to sign anyone, and that we're going to start the season with the 15-16 players we currently have, and bolster the squad with a few loan signings and youngsters. If this turns out to be the case, I reckon we're in for a relegation battle this season. Our light squad did well in League 1, but we've not improved where other sides coming up have. Cotterill must have a lot of faith in our current crop of players.
Eh? The managers out of the country I'm sure there is business going on but any announcements will wait until he's back in order for the shaking hands photo outside the new South stand
****s sake, Do you really think we will start the season with 15 senior pros.. Quality players are harder to get over the line, it'll happen have some patience...
Yeah it is concerning with regards to bedding in time, but people are talking as if the club aren't even trying to get some faces in! they've said they want 4 or so in.. Some of our fans would accept any old **** coming in as long as they could debate about it on a football forum!
