Sunderland star Ricky Alvarez has posted on social media that he’s had to resort to training on his own because of the issues surrounding his future at the club. The Premier League side are refusing to make this transfer permanent despite Inter Milan saying Sunderland have an obligation to do so. Yesterday the Argentine posted on his Instagram account with him in his running gear far away from his Sunderland teammates. The player commented on his solo training by saying he was working on his pre-season fitness whilst waiting for news on his future with the club. There is doubt about if the midfielder has a future at the club after Sunderland denied they had an agreement of a mandatory redemption which could now be solved by FIFA. “Working hard while waiting news about my future,” said the Sunderland star on his social media account. We covered reports in May that Sunderland must buy the midfielder outright after they avoided relegation to the Championship last season. Inter Milan have stated a clause was written into the agreement made in the last summer transfer window that if the North East side remained in the Premier League they would have to buy Alvarez for a figure between €8m to €10.5m. Sunderland aren’t too keen to make his move a permanent one for this transfer fee after his injury problems during the last campaign, and are therefore denying that such a clause was written into the deal. It is looking likely this will result in FIFA sorting out this mess, and Inter Milan are ready show football’s governing body evidence of the agreement made.
Feel sorry for the bloke caught in a situation that nobody can control. At least he is training, just hope it is suitable for his injury situation..
I bet he doesn't feel like playing for any of us now. He'll be desperate for somebody else to come in for him. If we do have to keep him I reckon he'll be loaned straight out like Vergini.
Feel sorry for him, I rate the lad but this made me chuckle. please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
I think it's a disgrace by the club, whatever the situation, to have a potential asset alienated by training on his own. Whichever club, by the way.
Can't end well can it mate? The lad is unquestionably a talented footballer and whilst there is even the remotest possibility he is to remain here we should be doing all we can to have him settled and able to perform at his best if called upon. Instead we have a player with a massive downer on the club before he even arrives here, whoever has handled this situation needs to look for another job, one that involves working on their own.
This is it mate. He can probably understand the clubs reluctance to pay for him given the issues he had, that wouldn't alienate him as such. Treating him like a slab of ****, that will, he will have no bond to the club whatsoever if he's been outcasted.
Well yes indeed. It's all about respect & he isn't being shown any. Somebody over there needs their arse kicking.
Won't letting him train with us accept responsibility for the player and make the court case pointless? I agree he's been **** on here, just think this is both the clubs thinking in not letting him join training with either of them.
Doesn't make sense though Funky, if there is a chance he is going to be with us, and at some cost too, he should be integrated into the squad as much as possible and correctly prepared for the new season. It would surely have no bearing on a legal battle, it's the club covering its bases and protecting an asset.
It can`t be as cut and dried as that surely. That seems very simplified. If he played 2 games, was out injured for the rest of the season and we stayed up would we still have to buy him? That doesn`t sound right to me at all. It can`t be as simple as that. Contribution must play a part. I agree with Nads. If we stay up and have to buy no matter what then some very serious questions need to be asked of our legal dept. Having said that there no reason the lad should be made to feel like an outcast. Seems to me the club has cocked up on both counts.
I don't see how hard it can be to read a clause in a contract. Seem to be some ****witted lawyers at our club or Inter's!
Players have often been allowed to train with clubs other than their own if circumstances made sense of it. I think to cover our backsides, it might be best to inform FIFA beforehand that we are allowing him to train with us as a matter of courtesy because we don't think the player's career should be harmed for a legal dispute between the clubs. I think that would cover it.
exactamundo. some useless twat must be for the chopping block, through utter negligence or for drafting up such a **** contract to start with...
