With two defensive midfielders at home, playing for draws. Arsenal were dull second half of 03/4

Juve did it recently, Bayern could have done it too but played reserves as Pep said going through a season unbeaten did not matter to him: it was merely a stat

It's an impressive stat for sure.
The fact that its only been done twice proves its not an easy feat.
Just saying, I'd much rather win a treble, or be London's Only EC Winners, or the only English side to have won every European trophy.

The Treble hadn't been done before by an English club. Going unbeaten in a league season had been done.

It's true that teams from other countries had already done the treble but teams from other countries had also gone unbeaten, on once occasion at least it didn't result in a league title.

Far harder to compete on three fronts, rotating players to keep them fresh for future games, than effectively give up on all but one competition in order to go unbeaten in the league.

Which team do you think is more highly regarded outside of Arsenal (and England), the United treble winning team or the Arsenal unbeaten team? There's only one answer to that question and it's not Arsenal!

You can go unbeaten in a season and still be relegated technically. But if you obtain the highest ever premier league points total in a season you're guaranteed to be champions.

    Those be the fahhkkktts.

Give me the option of an unbeaten league season and 1 trophy or the treble? Easy. The treble. United's achievement was fart far better. Chelsea's achievement 05 was in the middle of the 2 in terms of the seasons as a whole.

I wonder if anybody will ever do, P.38 W.38 D.0 L.0 ? Now that would be some achievement! Personally, I don't think it will ever happen.

Can't see it, every team has off days.

If someone won 37 out of 38 games and lost 1 the gooners would still rank it below the invicibles!

  12. Rioch's "invincibles" were something special, though.

To be fair Arsenal did reach semis of both domestic cups and QF of CL league.

They only started parking the bus and playing for draws from April

I don't think any side could win every game in a League season.
Even in **** Leagues where it's only 2 teams in title hunt like Scotish Prem have Celtic or Rangers won every game

Someone posted that you technically a team go unbeaten all season and be relegated but in reality any side not good enough to win a game would be bad enough to lose a game, and again that has never happened.

if it is such a simple task to go a whole league season Unbeaten then how come Chelsea, City or United have never done it with all their financial muscle ?

  17. It just goes to prove that what AFC did was a complete fluke. To say otherwise is to admit that AFC - who once dominated the league to such an extent that they did something almost impossible to achieve on purpose - has been is total decline ever since!

The fact that the "Invincibles" went on to win the sum total of **** all after that league title suggests that they weren't the greatest team! Or perhaps they were too busy polishing their golden helmets to challenge for trophies.

  19. Wenger's been too preoccupied in "polishing his helmet" over the last ten seasons, Schteeve, that's for sure!

Because we play to win rather than park two buses all season in central midfield with Gilberto and Vieira.

Even Jose played Fabregas and Matic in some games last season, and we lost those games.

Fergie played Keane Scholes, Arsene played two destroyers: Petit Vieira and then Vieira Gilberto.

Which is why they only scored 68 goals in 98 and the Vincibles only scored 73.

In Wenger's first five seasons it was safely first: Wenger's first five seasons you scored 62, 68, 59, 73, 63 goals.

Without doubt Wenger's negativity cost arsenal the title in 98/9 when they only managed 59 goals
